With so many people having trouble with gallbladder we should start a gallbladder thread. There are a few things to watch out for Keri, post gallbladder. I think you eat so healthy you won't have the same problems . Here are a few things neither my sister or I can eat: anything real fattening at all, like a greasy cheeseburger, I now look for salad or chicken when we go out to eat because It gives us instant flash back of major pain, we also couldn't do anything carbonated for a long time after wards (I still don't) And I still eat in much smaller amounts although a lot of that may be the Gastritis. I eat super tiny meals several times a day. I also still have problems with my stomach and I take a bite and want to vomit but with each day its getting a little better. OH and Hellsbells, I know the decision is yours but I wanted to share what happened to my sister. For five years she went to four different doctors who all gave her muscle relaxers and vicoden for her "back ache" turns out when it got bad on a weekend and they went to the ER, that it was gall stones. she had so many and large ones and several escaped before she got to the surgery so they went back in several times. The gallbladder went septic because it took them so long to find the problem. The liver took a huge blow and part of it had to be removed. I know this is rare but 10 day hospital stay and worrying I would never see my sister again was horrible.

Cheers omak, I think I'm going to go ahead with the op on Feb 1st. My boss has told me to go ahead with it, as the big project at work is so on-off it's impossible to pin down dates right now. There is a gallbladder thread by the way - Endo and Gallbladder issues, I think it's in the related health thread. I'd also still reccomend anyone with gastric issues get tested for H Pylori. I'm on quadruple therapy now for 14 days, and I think it's finally being eradicated and I'm starting to feel really good.

Helen I am so glad you will get it taken care of soon. I think it can change your life once it is removed. I seriously never knew how a bad gallbladder can make you life Hell! I encourage anyone on the board with gastro issues to ask you GI for a Hida Scan. Its is a 45 minute test for the galbladder and more docs should do it for patients or give it as a option.
I eat healthy so I am not worried about the greasy and fatty foods I am not big on eating that stuff anyways. Today my sister picked up a Probiotic Supplement for me and yogurt since I am on a high dose dose of antibiotics for the blood infection. I started to eat oatmeal, eggs, and a little mashe potatoes. NO BLOAT! It is awesome. I also have to get sugar back into my diet. Bc of the TPN my blood sugar is all a mess. I am borderline diabetic but it set me over into low sugar. I have been using grape juice as needed to bring it up when it gets low in the 70's I went from trying to stay away from evil sugar to now needing it to keep going. Suggestions girls? I do not want to push it to high. I can not tell all of how much better I feel. Knowing what the problem was and getting it taken care of has taken so much stress off of me. I am taking it easy now I know tho once I can start doing more I am going to be able to do so much more. I can not wait!
Good Luck Helen with the gallbladder and Omak with your diet.

I'm right there with you Keri, treating my H Pylori is making me feel so much better already, hopefully getting rid of the gallbladder will make me feel even better. We're getting ready to take on the world!! As for the sugar - fruit, fruit juice, maybe the occasional couple of squares of dark chocolate? Then you'll get the antioxidants too :-)

I am on temp watch. I have a slight fever and last night was up most of the night w lower back pain. Infectious Disease doc had said when I was in the hospital that is a sign of the blood infection. My throat hurts and I feel like I am getting a ear infection. I am still on my oral antiobiotics but I may end up back in the hospital for them to run them IV on me. If I go over 100 I have to call the doc and go from there. If I end up going back in I will try to post so no one worries about me. I knew that this could happen so I am prepared to go back if I have to I really hope the oral antibiotics can take care of it. I have been doing so well its been a week since I was released I am eating and off the demerol. I have not reached 100 pounds yet but I am 95! I have been doing everything I can to stay home and not end up back at the hospital. I will keep everyone posted as I know. Cross your fingers that it all passes. Thanks girls

Fingers and all other crossables are crossed! You're so perky it's worrying and even surprising to realise it's only been a week. Will say a lil prayer for you, and I hope you feel better soon, if they don't have to take you in. I remember you saying hospital is bad for you because you always pick something up, so here's hoping. Also, was reading in Men's Health about how to pack on healthy weight, for instance olive oil stops your muscle being broken down, so if you'd like the link I can post it.

We are all so glad to have you back I bet we can hang tight if you have to go in... Hope not, but at least they are prepared now and you have a game plan for if/when something happens with your temps. I am up here in alaska so I will send you some arctic chilly breezes right away! love and low-heat hugs

Aw Keri. I hope everything goes ok. I agree with Pretty, at least they have a plan this time! That's comforting to know. I think we're all experiencing a little PTSD from your last episode! We want you to be taken care of properly!

Yay I'm glad you kicked it's ass! Be careful, shopping can be too fun. Here's the link www.menshealth.com/mhlists/foods_....quid_Energy.php it's an 8 page click through I think. Ultimately if it doesn't work, I swap some of your womanly boobs for some of my bubble butt then we can both be happy chica!

the post "dump" of gallbladder surgery is a complication. I have it. I eat and then I lose whatever I ate a few minutes later. I have been struggling with this for the year since my surgery. It doesn't happen to everyone though? But basically your body doesn't control the bile as well and over produces it and then "whoosh" there goes whatever you just ate. I would definitely mention it to the doctor since you have to many other issues so I would be terrified of suggesting anything to help. I got in to a better GI doc and his suggestions seem to be helping. You could maybe ask about calcium polycarbophil (a fiber) when you see him next or a fiber safe to take to slow things down. Ironic to go from bowels that wont' empty to emptying constantly, I'm sorry your having this complication. It makes it really hard to go out and enjoy yourself. I always know where the nearest bathroom is and traveling for a while has become horrible. The worst was while I was having company over and I made this wonderful dinner and I kept having to run and use the toilet and then come back and then run again and come back and finally I hear my company say "is she alright" it was so... embarrassing.

Hopefully it'll only be a short term thing for you Keri. In all the gallbladder research I've done, it does suggest that the runs is an after affect of the surgery. Instead of your gallbladder storing bile and releasing it when you eat something fatty ('cause that's apparently what the bile is for - helping digestion of fats), it constantly and slowly drips into your intestines. Mention it to the doc, but there's a good chance it'll sort itself out, fingers crossed.
