I went to Dr. Kenneth Levey at NYU. He is a Chronic pelvic pain specialist. He truly helped me with my pain. He can be reached at 212-263-7203. I hope this helps.

Since there are often requests from members looking for good surgeons and endo docs, we figured it'd be good to compile a list and get your input. Carolyn already has a list going here (http://www.endo-resolved.com/specialist.html), but we'd like your personal experiences as well.
Continent: Country: Region/City: Dr. Name: Clinic / Hospital: Specialties / Procedures / Treatments Offered: Website / Contact Info: Have you been to this doc? -What have been your results? Known information regarding insurance coverage: How did you hear about this doc?: Other Comments:
Please only post about AWESOME docs here.
The goal is to eventually have a different list for each continent with links to each of those here (feel free to post here and the mods can move as necessary). To avoid clutter and make it easy for women to find the info they need, let's keep posts to only the following bits of info, and any conversational posts will be removed.

Continent: EuropeCountry: England, UK (has practised in Scotland)Region/City: LiverpoolDr. Name: Mr Rafet GazvaniClinic / Hospital: Liverpool Women's HospitalSpecialties / Procedures / Treatments Offered: Specialises in reproductive medicine and consultant in gynaecology, listed by 'Dr Foster's List of 'Experts' as an expert in infertility and endometriosisWebsite / Contact Info: www.lwh.me.uk/html/gazvani.php www.ukcfa.co.uk/about-the-ukcfa/meet-the-team/ www.catharinesuite.co.uk/meet-the-team/rafet-gazvani Have you been to this doc? Yes I always choose to go back to him and will do if I require IVF-What have been your results? He discusses my health and options with me, which is a rarity when I mostly experience docs who just 'tell' you or dislike your having an opinion and outside knowledge. My endometriosis seems to pop back up as an issue after a while but he is very quick and confident in trying to combat it or make me comfortable with the symptoms. I have aggressive endo so I don't really expect now that it will ever be 'over'Known information regarding insurance coverage: He does do private work as well as NHS and runs his own IVF clinics in Liverpool and in Cyprus, I am not sure of the private cover that would or wouldn't cover his care How did you hear about this doc?: Was referred to him by a sympathetic doc in my old very awful gynaecologists' clinicOther Comments: He is very proactive about treating endometriosis and it's symptoms, he will try whatever will work, does not seem to suggest treatments based solely on kickbacks and is open to new treatments and therapies as long as he can get it for you on the NHS. I'd just describe him as open overall. Open-minded, open door. He has a vast experience but he listens intently to what YOU have to say on your experience with the disease. And I like his approach, kind but firm, and a manner that demands a relationship of respect which goes both ways. He doesn't seem to know what to do with tears but he once told me that whatever happened with my endometriosis, he would always look after me and make sure he saw me through to a baby in my arms (he runs an IVF clinic and it was in reaction to my saying I was scared I wouldn't have children) I guess that sounds patronising but he said it with such conviction and it was the reassurance I needed at the time. He deals with endo in a way that says 'there is always a way' but he is honest and frank too, gave me a scary but honest report on the first laparoscopy he did on me. He even did that operation after my first crappy gynae said there was nothing wrong with me, that I just had IBS. He listened, and probably saved my organs as a result. I really appreciate what a great doctor he is.

I'm recovering from a long and painful excision of endo, with DaVinci Robot. She also kept my ovaries and tubes, and saved my uterus. Known information regarding insurance coverage: check website How did you hear about this doc?: I googled endo support groups in WA, and then checked it against my insurance. It was fairly easy to find her this way. I then called the clinic in Gig Harbor to check my insurance. I found the Fransciscan website somewhat hard to understand, so I just called regarding my insurance. They accept my BCBS alaska insurance, which is why I chose her, check the website to see your insurance.... Other Comments: This doctor ROCKS. She is experienced, informed, very knowledgeable about endo. I found her extremely personable and easy to talk to. She's just so awesome. I would recommend her to anyone who has endo and wants the best. She really does treat patients like they are her family. I'm so glad to have her on my team.

Yep. Is was the first doc that found my endo. He found it within 2 minutes of examining me! -What have been your results? I had a lap done at his recommendation (see comments) Known information regarding insurance coverage: Not sure How did you hear about this doc?: My sister in-law. Dr. Brown delivered both of her boys. Other Comments: I loved this doc because of his knowledge. He doesn't have much personality but I didn't care because he was very cut and dry and thorough. He found my endo. He told me that we should do the lap, he gave me all the positives and negatives and let me make my own choice. After the surgery he showed me colour pictures of my organs, the endo and everything. He then gave me 3 options. He told me that my endo was very advanced and he didn't want to risk my health by removing more then he did because it would put me at risk. The 3 options were, intense surgery which he didn't recommend, meds that would be me thru menopause to suppress endo which he didn't like but said it could reduce my pain or #3 try having kids. If no kids within 1 year, I was to call him and meet for a plan.

I obtained this short list from www.medhelp.org to help boost our growing list. This entire list of endo specialists was submitted by patient testimonial only and were not researched by any of the staff here at endo resolved. The medhelp site claims that all of these physicians perform the excision surgery. As always, we encourage you to do your own research before seeing one of these physicians. Hi everyone! I have got a hobby. My hobby is helping find decent doctors. I want to share a couple places where I've found endo surgeons and see if anyone else has tips for this. I know the hardest part of finding out you have endo is deciding how to get it out! One place I've gone to look is www.davincisurgery.com/gynecology/and at the bottom of that page is the surgeon locator: www.davincisurgery.com/surgeon-locatorI had excision surgery using the davinci robot, and it was great. I found my surgeon online after searching a LOT, but then found this site after talking with her office. A lot of endo doctors who are using modern excision methods are also training on or using the da vinci robot. The above link should take you to the page where you can locate doctors using this awesome tool. Another way to find an endo specialist in your area is to google 'endometriosis support groups in _______" and then get in touch with those groups and ask people who they saw and how they felt about it. This is how I found my surgeon, from a recommendation left on a support website in Seattle. Another idea is to search your health insurance provider's website for gyn-oncologists, uro-gyn specialist/surgeon, and reproductive endocrinologists. often, a regular Gynecologist will say they 'specialize' in endo, but all that means is, they are willing to put you on Lupron and take out your uterus. This is NOT OK. Sometimes, more experienced surgeons are not 'just' Gynecologists - they may specialize in gyn/oncology or something more specific. Even if you aren't successful in finding a doctor who lists themself as an 'Endometriosis Specialist' you may find someone with a lot of endo surgery experience through calling women's centers, reproductive health centers, and etc. The most important part of your search is at the end, when you interview possible surgeons. please ask them how many endo excisions they perform and what tools they use. Ask them about recurrences of endo in their patients and what to expect. if a surgeon has only performed a few 'excisions' they are probably not experienced or informed about endo - they have just come across it during other routine gyn surgeries. This does not make them an expert! I'll keep posting to this thread as I find other good ideas. Everyone please post if you had good luck finding a reputable doctor and let us know how you found them and how they did!

Ladies, Pretty is right. I was having so much trouble finding experts in my area....looked for 2 whole days and with Pretty's experience, she was able to find multiple experts in my area with only a few hours of work, so I highly recommend her process for finding the right surgeon for you. I have so many more options now thanks to her help. Thanks again, Pretty

I'm looking for one in Massachusetts - any good ideas? I'm making a list and calling offices tomorrow. Specifically, I'm going to ask if the doctor has experience diagnosing and treating endometriosis PAIN, rather than infertility. Wasn't sure if I could make my own thread since this one already exists, but I am good and ready for a 4th opinion...
