Grab your lobster bibs, it's a specialist in Maine! Dr. Martin Robbins has been amazing. I was unable to find someone (surprisingly!) in Boston, and I am so glad I found this doc. Continent: North America Country: US Region/City: Scarborough, Maine Dr. Name: Dr. Martin Robbins Clinic / Hospital: Performs surgery at Maine Medical Center's Outpatient Surgery Center Specialties / Procedures / Treatments Offered: He specializes in endo excision, and other laparoscopic surgeries. Website / Contact Info: www.advancedwomenshealthcare.us/Have you been to this doc? Yes, a lap in August where he spent nearly six hours excising endo from my colon, bladder, and pelvic walls. In that surgery he found endo on my diaphragm (we had already discussed that possibility), which he removed in a second surgery in September. He is one of the most patient, informed, compassionate, and thorough MD's I have ever met. He believes in excision and not hormonal suppression. He had been very accessible for follow up questions, including via email. How did you hear about this doc?: Found him on a recommended endo specialist list after getting my diagnosis with my colon resection. Other Comments: Go to this doctor, it is worth the drive if you are looking for a specialist in New England. The outpatient surgery center he uses is great, wonderful staff who made me and my husband feel very cared for.

Has anyone been to a good doctor in eastern, Pennsylvania? The next phase of my plan is to find another doctor, hopefully one that specializes in endo/chronic pelvic pain.
Thanks!

I'm looking for one in Massachusetts - any good ideas? I'm making a list and calling offices tomorrow. Specifically, I'm going to ask if the doctor has experience diagnosing and treating endometriosis PAIN, rather than infertility. Wasn't sure if I could make my own thread since this one already exists, but I am good and ready for a 4th opinion... You looking for pain medication management, or surgical? I have two doctors in Boston I have been happy with thus far.

Does anyone know of any endo specialists in the Washington D.C. area? I like my doctor but I'm wondering if there are any specialists here.

Semicolon,
Ya, I saw the info on Dr. Belizan. But he looks like the kind of doctor that would drive me nuts. I can't handle OB/GYNs that tell me I need to have a baby and more than one person has said that he thinks that having babies solves everything. So I was wondering if there was anyone else.
My current doctor is really good about that but I still have to remind her that my husband had a vasectomy in 2003 and at this point the changes of his vas deferens growing back together is close to nil. But she keeps mentioning preserving fertility when we talk about treating endo. I finally had to interrupt her and tell her I don't care if I'm infertile.

Dr. Belizan can be pushy about having a baby initially but he also respects a woman who is convicted that she doesn't want children. I gave him a serious talk about not wanting kids and he backed off and was completely considerate of my choice. I think there is another specialist mentioned in the DC area/Baltimore mentioned somewhere else but I can't remember where.

I totally get that, I do want kids but don't want IVF but my reg obgyn was kind of pushing it because "pregnancy is really good for endometriosis.". I could have punched him! But when i said that to my specialist he didn't miss a beat and didn't mention it again. I've decided I can let some things go with the regular doc because I have a specialist already who gets it.
There is a Dr. MacKoul that comes up on a google search but the red flag for me on his site is that average procedure time is 20-30 min, "up to 90 min for advanced cases". Hmm, mine was advanced and excision took 6 hrs!! I don't know if anyone else has suggestions for you.

Currently w/ Dr. Belizan and very happy so far, will update w/ my experiences and hopefully a favorable review a few months after surgery Please see Jenaya's post on Dr. Belizan on pg 1. Continent: North America Country: USA Region/City: Baltimore City and Baltimore County Maryland Dr. Name: Michael Martin Clinic / Hospital: Overlea Personal Physicians, Mercy Hospital Specialties / Procedures / Treatments Offered: Family Physician, Primary Care Website / Contact Info: Overlea Personal PhysiciansHave you been to this doc? yes -What have been your results? took my symptoms and concerns VERY seriously, got me in with Dr. Audlin within 48 hours after my prior gynecologist screwed up. Known information regarding insurance coverage: Takes just about everything. How did you hear about this doc?: My boyfriend , though have been with Overlea for over 8 years. Other Comments: Dr. Martin is overall a fantastic primary care doctor, though is a huge advocate for endometriosis patients. He has female family members with Endo, and deeply sympathizes with endo suffers. Upon hearing my concerns early this year (and I've been his patient over 3 years) swore that I had endo. He offered Dr. Audlin immediately though I went to my mother's doctor, after that went very very bad in early September got me into Audlin's office within 48 hours. Wrote up all my symptoms in his notes, so the gynecologist was ready for me when I walked in the door. He has been amazing throughout this entire ordeal. For Baltimore him and the Mercy Gynecology center are an awesome combination. This man even tried to get my surgery date moved up (though one internist against 20 docs battling for a 2 million dollar robot only goes so far ). Also the Mercy Gynecology center is who he trusted to operate on his own family. His office is also very responsive, and can often get same day appointments. They'll also call in scripts, and fax work notes.

The three that I have heard of in NY are Dr. Tamer Seckin, Dr. Cy Iui, or Dr. Iris Orbuch. I'm not sure if any take insurance. Unfortunately, for endo causing pnuemothorax you need a very skilled dr. My suggestion would be the CEC in Atlanta, they have a thoracic surgeon they work with regularly.
Roxie- Dr. Mosbruker is very skilled, worth the travel.
