Hope you're still off the cancer sticks! I think it's great that you were able to quit like that. At least that's one good thing endo has done for a lot of us--force us to take better care of ourselves. I am curious though--and I'm not trying to be rude or upset anyone here--but I always thought it was ridiculous that people will hang their cigarettes out the window while driving. They're willing to destroy their bodies, but not their car? What's the logic in that?

I don't think it's about avoiding the destruction of the car. I think it's more about being able to see, when you're driving. Where's the smoke gonna go if you don't open the window? The car's gonna stink, anyway, with or without the window open.

OH! That makes so much more sense! Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I don't think it's polite to lecture smokers on the habit. It's extremely hard to break and they are most often aware of the health risks and everyday implications. I wouldn't broach the subject of smoking with a smoker myself, simply just none of my business. As a non-smoker who has been a smoker several times. I see both sides, hate it, hate it when I'm doing it but don't want to hear from someone who hates it when it's not affecting them.

I wasn't lecturing, just trying to understand something that has always puzzled me.

Well done honey! Take it one day at a time. Is this your first time? PM me any time, I've been there and come out the other end, almost 7 months for me!

Thank you ladies. I'm working on day two. Hells, yes this is my first time. With my lap coming up in March I wanted to quit so my lungs will be as good as possible when they put me out. I had plenty of excuses before why it wasn't a good time to quit. I guess I just needed a good enough excuse for why it IS a good time to quit. At 8 pm it will be 48 hrs and not even a puff. I am actually amazed at how well I have done. There's only been a couple of times that it got under my skin. When that happened I just got up and started to do something. You know you really want to quit when you clean the toilet instead of lighting up. ;D

Patches can really help but you gotta want to do it and it sounds like you do. And yep, quitting before surgery is a great idea! Well done!
