I have been trying so hard to really increase the amount of fresh foods and eliminate processed. I try to have a salad for lunch daily and have run into the problem with the salad dressing. I tried the usual kraft but they have either eggs, dairy, soy and also a lot of corn syrup or high fructose corn syrup in addition to a ton of stuff I can’t even pronounce. I was wondering for those who are also GF and following the endo diet, what are your choices for salad dressings? Do you buy or make your own from scratch? If you make from scratch can you please share your favorite recipe?

LOL I hate salad. The one salad I made I did my own dressing. It's in the recipe thread.

Thanks Jenaya, I'll check it out. I did buy some organic Annies brand ranch last week, it was ok....the bottle seemed small and didn't last long....my search continues...

All I ever use on salads is extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice and it's awesome.

I read about the Extra Virgin Olive oil with lemon juice and some pepper, guess I'll have to try....the pre packed stuff is crap....I think I need to buy an Endo recipe book.

store-bought salad dressing also often has lots of sugar, in addition to other crap.

I got glutened today I got hungry at school and thought this chicken, vegetable, and white rice lunch was safe. I ate it and immediately felt sick so I went back and asked them what was in it and it turned out the chicken was marinated in soy sauce. I ended up asking to speak to a manager because they didn't have that sh*t labeled on their menu and that's so unsafe for people who have food allergies! They said they would fix it but I highly doubt that they cared. I feel like absolute sh*t now. I can't think straight, my memory is lapsing, my ovaries feel like they have been lit on fire, my stomach is killing me, and I've got some hardcore brain fog going. Gluten is so damn TOXIC to me. I hate this!

Shoes, I've been trying gluten free (granted I haven't paid too much attention to sugars besides avoiding lots of gluteny sweets!) to see if it affected my period pain. We're heading into cycle two, last cycle wasn't much different but we'll see. I also am wondering if the diet is more effective for folks with pain all the time (I don't have ovulation pain or much pain outside of my period). I think a lot is individual, and lots of gals have learned through trial and error.

Sometimes I'd just rather go hungry than feel like this

There are other threads to discuss sugars in more detail. I realize there's some overlap in foods on the endo diet but specific sugar questions should be directed in this thread or similar: endo-resolved.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=diet&action=display&thread=2349 That being said, Jenaya, I'm sorry some snuck in for you! I hate that it wasn't labeled properly and you feel like ass now. How long does it usually take to get out of your system? I hope it passes quickly! I have to admit, it's not affecting me nearly as much these days and part of me wonders if it's due to the digestive enzymes I've been taking. I had a little bit tonight when I met some friends out for dinner and I don't seem to be affected. Since you're missing part of your pancreas, I wonder if that's contributing to the more strong reactions these days? I'm just brainstorming here and could be completely full of it, but do you think there's anything to that?

Jenaya, we went out last night and I kinda wigged out because none of the small meals were gluten free, then I got this artichoke dip that had chicken I it, but it wasn't on the menu I swear! So then I didn't know what the heck else was in it and I got pissed. I have a friend who found out in college she was allergic to chicken and eggs. The oatmeal in the dining hall was making her sick, do she finally asked about it and found out the put chicken stock in it to keep it looking good on the line! It makes me mad, what if you are vegan?
Karen, my IBS was dramatically better after I started eating kefir so I think the flora in your digestive system is huge.

THEY PUT CHICKEN STOCK IN THE OATMEAL?!?!!?! THAT IS DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!
Karen, I agree with you that my little half pancreas might be causing some of this. I have also been losing weight lately and I think it's because I'm just not digesting. It's starting to get a little worrisome. I think I'll be better from my gluten exposure by tomorrow. I woke up feeling a little better today.
I really don't like the lack of education in the food industry about people with food allergies. I really wish some of these cooking shows on TV would do episodes on people with food allergies. I think it would be cool if Hell's Kitchen did a challenge for their chefs to make food free of all common allergens. That would be a great challenge and it would help educate so many people about us!

I LUV your idea, Jenaya! I'd add Rachael Ray, Dr. Oz and The Doctors to the list. I think the TODAY show runs occasional segments on GF cooking. I'm fortunate to work at a school were a number of the students have allergies & the cafeteria does an amazing job of providing numerous options. At the beginning of the year, all the kids wanted to heat their pbj's on the panini makers...caused a lot of grief as a number of kids using the machines are allergic to nuts!
