I'm so so so so stupid! My friend, who had gorgeous hair, told me that she relaxed it with the over-the-counter black people hair relaxer so I decided to try it. I only left it on for 10 minutes and it completely ruined my hair! My hair is so long I don't know what to do!! The whole time I kept thinking, something tells me I'm going to regret this later. There are parts of my hair that are elastic now, it's like each hair strand is stretchy like a rubber band and if I pull it they all snap! Luckily all the bad damage is at the bottom but it looks like I'm going to have to cut my hair I'm so so so stupid. I should have known better.

Oh. My. Word.
Can you call a salon ASAP, see if they can reverse the affects at all? I'm SURE they have to have seen this before. May cost you a fortune, but I think it might be worth it...

I seriously doubt they can reverse this. It like, disintegrated my hair. It's burned? I don't know how to explain it. Most of it is at the ends so I'm praying that the rest of my head isn't like this. It sucks cause I did a strand test to see what would happen and it came out beautiful. Then I do my whole head and there's this whole section where it's all messed up. LOL WHYYYYYY!!?!?!!?!

Well, they may not be able to fix it all, but perhaps they can at least stop the treatment from doing any more damage to the rest of it? Kind of like de-activate it so it doesn't keep working residually? (Is that even a word?)
I could be pulling this all out of my arse, but at least call them!!! Better to find out now than to wait a few days and go in and find out there's something you may have been able to do!

BTW, I'm totally nervous for you right now - I'm feeling that panicky-feeling, too!

So here's what's going on. When I took my hair out from the stupid deep condition I noticed a patch of hair that was completely ruined. Luckily, it was at the ends so I seriously took some scissors to it and chopped it off. 4 inches! So now I'm waiting for my hair to dry to see the total damage. SO far, I think the spot I cut off is the only spot that was like that. The rest of my hair is just looking really straight and dry which is not that bad! Oh GOD what was I thinking!?!?

We've all done it with something or other............hair colour/perm/relaxer........hair remover.....a friend of mine used hair remover on her bikini line but left it on too long and got major burn she had to go home from work she was so sore. Get to a salon and get it fixed! You may have to cut it, but it's hair.......it'll grow back xxx

So to update, I washed my hair again with my regular shampoo. It seems as though my hair is ok except for the big chunk that got burned. Actually the parts that it worked, my hair looks pretty nice! lol But I'll still probably have to cut my hair cause now it's all uneven from where I chopped it. Good thing my hair is layered! So I think what happened is that I didn't completely mix it properly and there was a concentrated portion of it on one section of my hair.

I hope the rest turns out okay! If your hair is really long then perhaps 4 inches shorter won't be too incredibly noticeable?

Ugh yeah it's official. I ruined my hair. I always get the itch to change my hair, usually I'll color it. But this time I got even more stupid and relaxed it. LOL I guess I'll have to settle for a hair cut instead. I think I'm going to have to chop off about 5 inches. Good thing it's super long.

Awww Jenaya you will look pretty no matter how short your hair is. I have to tell you tho I feel so bad for laughing but I was when I read this. Then I thought of the time my ex dyed my hair platinum blonde and how upset I was. I stopped lauhging and am now hoping you get it fixed the way you want it. Sorrry for laughing! BTW is a relaxer used to make your hair straight or condioned or what? I am not familar with that type of hair product. Sorry if I sound dumb..... If you want a great product that makes hair soft and smooth try Paul Mitchell's Supper Skinny Serum. It is awesome for any hair type put a little on and you will be amazed at what your hair looks like after! Good Luck!

OH MY GOD! Thank goodness that you have plenty of hair left. Those five inches will be back before you know it, thankfully.
In 7th grade, it was "in" to have shoulder-lenghth, spiral-permed hair. Well, my hair was down to my ass at the time. After they cut it all off, and LAYERED IT (probably just because it's very fine), I began to get a little misty. The perm did not turn out spiraly, but was cute, for a little while. Then, it looked like a mop. I spent the next two years growing all of that shyte out, so I could get it back to it's original condition.
Lesson learned.

LOL...sorry Jenaya
Ive learned my lessen before. I decided to try a new hair colour and it litterally turned out Ronald McDonald orange. That was an emergency trip to the salon for a corrective colouring. My mistake cost me just over a $100 tho. At least you have super long hair and im sure you'll still look FAB with the new cut.

It's ok to laugh ladies! that's why I posted it cause it's a funny story. I can see that you all can relate to hair uh oh's! haha Keri, a hair relaxer chemically straightens your hair. I have wavy, thick, coarse, and frizzy hair and my friend said she relaxed hers and it's gorgeous. No blow drying, no flat ironing, it's just gorgeous from air drying. So the first half of my hair came out absolutely beautiful! Then the bottom 5 inches is just totally fried. So to sum up what I think happened is first I don't think I mixed it properly so there was concentrated parts of it on my hair which would explain the ruined elastic parts, but also if your hair is even slightly dry or damaged it will just ruin it. The ends of my hair are very dry so it just destroyed it. Lesson learned, don't use ethnic hair products unless you have ethnic hair! LOL
