oh Karen, I'm stuck between saying congratulations and I'm so sorry. I hope you get your brain back soon.
Swear away, Semi. I'm about to pop over to the ovulation rant board and start swearing.

You and me both! I've been wanting this for a while as a sign that things are getting back on track, but damn... I haven't been wanting this. Double-edged sword, I guess.
So ovulation pain again, eh? Back at acupuncture yet? Making a difference or are you starting from square one?

Aw Karen! I wonder if this is the beginning to a forward progression though! Your poor body!

Things started to get better day 2, and by day 3, it was totally bearable. The flow is starting to slow down, too, so perhaps I got off lucky on this one! I was terrified that it'd be an awful period since it's been so long since my last one. Phew!

Is your slurring words better? Glad that this wasn't a killer.

Yeah, that got better. But Thursday, I was under so much stress that I was mixing up my words. Felt like I had a short circuit! But I think it was a fight or flight response that did that more than my period. Either way, I hate when my speech is messed up! I always wonder if other people notice.

Karen, since you hadn't had a period since July, were you just taking the progesterone every day all that time? Is there something you think may have caused a period finally? Any recent changes? Or maybe like me, several changes at once and so you don't know what it was?
My period seems all messed up. I guess I should rant over here rather than my usual bio-identicals thread. My ten day pain ended 4 days ago and now it seems like it's coming back. It's day 9 of my cycle, so having pain then is weird for me. Esp. since it was gone already for 4 days and had started on day 22, even though my period was on day 28. It almost feels like my period is starting again! I have some spotting too. Switching to the cream seemed to really mess up things - I'm not sure why. I would have liked to stay on the cream instead of troches or oral. I wonder what the ingredients are in the cream. Maybe there are xeno-estrogens in it. I should have asked for an ingredient list.

No, I tapered off the progesterone a while ago. I figured I'd get a period then, but nothing... I figured the same with acupuncture and again, nothing. I think the thing that did it for me was finally getting my thyroid treatment on the right track. I'm convinced that's the root of a lot of my problems, so I'm going to hold off on re-testing my hormones until I'm up to full strength on the thyroid meds. As far as your progesterone cream, where did you get it from? Is it a name brand or specially compounded? I was told the bio-identical creams I was using (testosterone and estrogen) were just made with an oil base - I believe olive oil. A good compounding pharmacy will only have the bare necessities when it comes to ingredients. I'm sorry your cycle is so messed up. It's not fun.

I was at the gym tonight with a friend (yes, Helen, I went finally). She's a very dear friend and asks about the ins and outs of my health. So, today when we were running around the track, I told her I finally had a period. She threw her hands over her head and started smiling and laughing with excitement. It's great to have friends like that to celebrate the little victories, right? She then compared me to a 12 year old and congratulated me for being a woman now. Ha! I never thought I'd want a period so badly as I did. As much as I hate the beast, at least I know my body still knows what to do from time to time.

well, did you have a regular period before you started taking the progesterone? If you did, I wonder how that affected everything. But it does sound like you have a lot more going on than just the endo issues (your thyroid, etc.). I had low scores on some cortisone or something like that (like you did), but I have no symptoms at all. When you stopped the progesterone, was there a difference at all? I know you didn't have a period, but did you get pain again?
my pain has gone now. hopefully it won't return. the progesterone cream was compounded by a pharmacy.

I was on BC for 10+ years, so I have no idea how irregular things were. When I went off BC, they were quite wonky, so although they were wonky while I was on progesterone, I don't think it caused it at all. I was off BC for a good year or so before I tried progesterone. I've had some odd pain here and there since being off it, and some days I've considered going back on it to take care of the twinges, but nothing obscene so far. Cross your fingers.
Perhaps this isn't the right thread to go into detail, but I'm assuming you're talking about low cortisol levels? Your adrenals, which make cortisol, also have a hand in hormone production...
Glad your pain is gone now, though! Let's hope it stays away!

yes, cortisol is what I meant, Karen. So I have a period rant now. It showed up on day 18, although it's day 25 if it's from last month's beginning of pain, rather than beginning of bleeding. So who knows?? It was particularly bad this morning, but I numbed it with tylenol. Pelvic cramps AND the side cramping I get. Ugh. So I'm going to stop my troches today and then wait a few days and start the Visanne. I'll get the prescription today. I just wish my period would go away. Well, menopause isn't too far off for me.

I am having my first period / withdrawal bleed in about a year as I was advised to have a period now after surgery to see how it goes. I felt sh*tty last night and was in a lot of pain this morning when the first bleed started.
After painkillers, heat and tea I am feeling a bit better. I have no idea if this will be it for the duration or if it will get worse - I suspect it will - so I'm just taking it easy and hoping for the best. I think it will get worse but hopefully I'll still be functional. It's weird, I am having all the same niggles and pains and discomfort etc that goes along with coming on, and as I have now associated that with obscene amounts of pain and bowel problems / vomiting etc, I have the fear, lol!

I had my period about 10 days after my lap. It was the worse one I can remember having. I believe it was because my body was still healing. Hang in there, it will get better.
