I would tell anyone with galbladder symptoms to ask for the Hida Scan and a ultrasound. Those are the two tests that show what that little organ is doing or not doing.

Please get it checked you can have a ultrasound to check for the gallstones even sludge will show up I believe in a ultsound. A Hida scan is what will show if you have a non functioning gallbladder. Dont wait! I went months and saw some really dumb docs. Ended up on a artificial feeding line and New Years Day was in surgery with a infected appendix still it had not been figured out I got the Hida scan and was in surgery again to remove the gallbladder. I had every test and the Hida was what showed it. Here is a list of sypmtons Pain or tenderness under the rib cage on the right side Pain between shoulder blades Stools light or chalky colored Indigestion after eating, especially fatty or greasy foods Dizziness Bloating Gas Burping or belching Feeling of fullness or food not digesting Diarrhea (or alternating from soft to watery) Constipation Headache over eyes, especially right Bitter fluid comes up after eating Chills Fever (off and on) Attacks most often at night Pain can last 15 minutes to 15 hours Nausea Severe upper abdominal pain We have a few members without gallbladder and appendix not sure how if it is connected with endo or not but I have a theory our bodies just give up fighting and organs start to cause us problems. Sorry you feel so bad it is a awful pain I put it up there with kidney stones. Good Luck and keep us posted. Whoa. I know I have gallstones myself. I told my doctor that I've been getting pain a lot more now, even after eating things that aren't even fatty. Because I know as soon as I have some fatty/greasy, I'll get the pain. But because of my age he wants me to try and avoid having it removed. So do I. But the pain is almost everyday. And I'm not sure if I'm just making it worse by leaving it as it is. Should I get that Hida scan thing?

hi all,
I know this post is old now but I've read it thoroughly and even before i had i researched my symptoms and regarding what my old doc said with symptoms and results of scans and bloods...
I've been experiencing excruciating pains on right side lower abdomen and under my sternum sometimes feels like acid re flux but all movement makes it worse its sooo bad i feel nauseous and sick n headache and my right side altogether feels dull pain the other day i had an english exam of course couldnt miss it and wait a month for another date so had to go in pain finished quick though lol.....anyway my bloods show my liver function is abnormal and not functioning properly as well as this I've has 2 ultrasounds of whole abdomen which show the gall bladder as contracted on both and they were almost 2 weeks apart? im so confused i go back to see my doc tomorrow which is a new doc due to the move however old doc has sent a report to him but i cannot take this on top of endo and fibro n focal complex migraines.....im trying to find out from my mom if anyone in family has had or has problems with gall bladder or kidneys i know my aunt has 100% kidney failure all ive had is recurring kidney infections n constant pains...etc as well as my dads cousin kidney failure too....
any advice and what else to tell doc? what options do i have? does anyone know if they will remove it as everything points to gall bladder issues? im not sure what to think im 25 n feel 75 fa real
any advice or anything is welcome
again thank you all in advance xxxx

Ask for a HIDA scan. I had the same symptoms as you. The HIDA Scan showed that although my gallbladder was functioning, it would contract in strange ways and cause pain, bloating, gas, and acid reflux/nausea. It is said that if you eat a fatty/greasy, heavy meal, that can cause a gallbladder attack. I had that sometimes, but the attacks for me happened when I ate mostly raw veggies like spinach or kale. My body has had a hard time digesting so many things.
Pain on the upper right side can also be endo on the diaphragm or adhesions causing an organ or muscle to stick to the pelvic sidewall. Pain on the lower right side is usually caused by the appendix or a cyst/adhesions on the right ovary. My appendix was almost completely black and stuck to the side wall.
I had my gallbladder removed during my surgery along with my appendix and endo that was burned off my diaphragm. It has almost been a year since then. Although I don't have gallbladder attacks anymore, I'm starting to get the same symptoms as before since I think I have adhesions or endo by my diaphragm again.
If you are looking to have surgery soon to remove the endo, I would also ask the doctor to take out the appendix and gallbladder if possible. It would also be nice to have the doctor look for endo on your diaphragm. Not all doctors have the capability of doing this or they may not have the right equipment. My surgery was a daVinci lap where a general surgeon took out the gallbladder and burned the endo on the diaphragm and then later handed the controls for the robot to Dr. Mosbrucker to finish excising the endo in pelvic cavity and remove the appendix.
At the very least at your next surgery, have the endo removed along with your appendix. While you are waiting, try to take some Mylanta in liquid form. It helped me better than any pill or anti gas tablet I tried. If you can't find that brand, it is usually by the diarrhea stuff or the acid reflux things. The main active ingredients are Aluminum hydroxide, Magnesium hydroxide ,and Simethicone. Ask the doctor about it. Mine gave me a prescription for Zofran for the nausea and Reglan for the reflux and other issues. They worked for a little while but can sometimes make you sleepy. After a while, they did not offer me any relief.
I hope things go well at the doctor's tomorrow!
