LOL My husband calls it "the bitch switch." I guess the bitch switch can be flipped on or off at any moment. HAHAA. Sometimes I write on my hand, "Keep bitch switch off" when I know I'm hormonal. Looks like I should go look for a pen!

So I'm curious, what are guys planning on doing to prevent pregnancy? I'm kinda in the same situation that you are in. As of right now, I'm going to start charting my temps but I think for the most part, we'll just be using condoms UGH I hate them!

For the moment, I have my IUD. I plan on taking that out in a month, and then Sam says he will use condoms until he decides to get the vasectomy. I looked up the prostate cancer thing, and asked my vet (yeh, animal doctor, but he knows a lot of stuff). He said that if the cauterization isn't done right, semen can get blocked up and put pressure on the prostate, which puts the prostate into overdrive. That can lead to cancer, but the chances are still very slim. I'm gonna leave the decision up to Sam, but I'm not going back on hormonal BC.

Cool it sounds like you guys have a good plan! We're both just kinda stuck in limbo because we don't have any children. We feel the same way about how we don't want kids but still would like to keep the option open if we change our minds one day. So we can't do anything permanent, although it sure crosses my mind a lot LOL.

I guess condoms are your best bet then. There is a male BC out (not approved by the FDA yet, but in use in Europe), but from my reading it is very unreliable. Having a headache medicine that is unreliable is one thing, but I don't wanna mess with something that could change my life forever.

Yeah the condom option is all we can do right now. I'm going to hijack some free ones from the university. Hehehee.

Condoms and I don't agree. I hope we can get pregnant soon! It's been 1 year on valentines day that I was pregnant last year. I hope this year is the one!

Ok, this is weird. I've been having awful night sweats for the past week, and it's gotta be from the lack of Lybrel in my system. But isn't that a menopause symptom? I am way too young for menopause (28). My nipples have also been really sensitive... I went from breast tenderness on just one side while on Lybrel, to my nipples hurting if I just brush them off of Lybrel. I hope when I take the IUD out at the end of this month things will improve.

If the BC you were on had estrogen in it, your body could be adjusting from the reduced estrogen. If I remember correctly, night sweats etc. are a result of estrogen withdrawal. Might be worth doing a bit of research to confirm, but perhaps that will help explain it. I hope it gets better soon!

Hey Gaia I was having them pretty badly too since I stopped the nuva ring. I'm only 28 too. I really think it's this wacky hormone stuff leaving your body. They were so bad that they were waking me up out of my sleep! I was feeling like hell because on top of the crazy hormone bitch switch I was also dealing with lack of sleep. I haven't had a hot flash in about 4 days so I'm HOPING that symptom is gone.

Lybrel has levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol. I have no idea what levonorgestrel is, but I think I remember estradiol being a precursor or product of estrogen.

I think levonorgestrel is a progestin - I think it's what the Mirena releases.

Estradiol as far as I know is the body's natural form of oestrogen, or one of them.
