Does anyone else have this issue? There are many days that I barely eat because of the discomfort/pain.

Hi Wendy, Yes ihear you on the lack of eating... there are days when i have no appetite what so ever because the pain is too much to handle and the thought of eating makes me sick or i am in too much pain to want to eat or to even know what to eat. Between pain and frustraion and emotion i end up not eating. This can last for a couple days. If i do eat i am eating little so frustrating. I know that we need food to fuel our bodies but it is just too hard at times. I have lost weight within the past 5 weeks because the pain has been so intense that the lack of eating is being on the fore front. Not good hey. Endo surely knows how to kick us ...

Hi Wendy,
I had this when my uterus and my colon were attached by adhesions. When I would try to eat the pain would get so bad I could barely sit never mind walk. You need to eat though. I would make a half a package of oatmeal and then a few hrs later have the other half. I also bought grapes and would just pick on one here and there.

Thanks for the responses. Butterfly, I've lost weight also, and yes, endo does know how to kick us. Not even being able to do something as basic as eating... :/ Mustang-- yup, oatmeal was all I could manage yesterday. Today has been a bit better.

I wish i liked oatmeal..i like to think i do at times and i try it but cant seem to have a liking for it lol. I resort to eating those jello cups that got no sugar added and are like practically no calories , i think 5 cals lol. So basically eating nothing i guess.

I have days like that myself but it can also be something besides pain. If you are someone who takes a lot of Ibuprofen/Advil or other pain killers such as Aleve, you may have ulcers, which causes pain too, especially upper or epigastric pain, and can be felt in the back as well right about the bra line. One of the big symptoms of ulcers is that lack of hunger. Unfortunately its pretty common with those of us who have to use anti-inflammatories.

I couldn't Agree more. Over the counter pain relievers do a number on our stomachs. Not only can they cause ulcers but diarrhea as well.

I worry more with the ibprofen I take it and it don't even work. I don't over take it though so sure I am fine lol. I am not a med fan...and tend to be a sucker for pain .

Too many pain relievers of any kind over the counter or prescription can have an effect on the kidneys. If you are having repeated kidney infections I would see your pcp and let them know.

who prescribed the antibiotics to you? For me personally if i was hesitent to take something that someone other than my gp prescribed I would talk to my gp first as she and me have a long history and she I feel would know what is best for me. Some Dr's I find give out meds like candy, some assume that if you go to ER you are going for meds...So for that reason if i am ever prescribed anything not by my gp i do check with her first to get her take on it. And also no matter who prescribes it i do research it as well before taking it. I need to be aware fully of what is going in my body. whatever you feel is best for you at this moment do, if that involves taking hte antibiotics and then talking to gp, not taking them and waiting to see gp, or just taking them as another trained professional gave them to you for reasons they felt were needed. I generally look at why i am hesitant and what side effects of meds could be and what not and then of I do not feel easy or ok with taking it i talk to my Dr (gp) about it. Just because i have such a long history with her and she has seen me though a lot so know me really well and some meds are not good for all people. Good luck with whaever you decide

I had massive issues with appetite and nausea until my Lupron started working. Prior to surgery I could barely eat at all and started dropping weight. This is definitely common with Endo.
What helped was lots of soup, and bland foods. So many days I live on veggie barley soup, ginger ale, miso soup, and veggie nuggets. I found if I ate raw foods, or even steamed dark greens (broccoli, kale, etc) my body would protest severely.
I started taking a multi vitamin to make up some for the nutrition loss in my diet since there were so many foods I couldn't keep down, or digest without excruciating pain, gas, etc. It helped quite a bit, and I was able to focus on the basics. Getting enough calories, salt, fiber, etc. I had days I had to make sure I got enough sugar.
When the endo is under control my appetite and ability to digest food comes back almost completely (except in mornings severe issues post bm, likely adhesions). I can also eat almost whatever I want. I am still trying to stay away from too much spice since my intestines still aren't doing great with that.
Also, I know we're all different but I found sticking to the endo diet did not help me much, if at all. Actually I was having trouble keeping the food down and/or digest the good vitamin rich stuff I usually rely on (like my mustard greens!).
It's important to be careful, eat small meals, and keep notes on what goes down best. We all need nutrition! Also I found putting out a little extra money and getting all natural soups, and microwave/pre-made meals helped out a lot. Moving around (like with my normal cooking) worsened my nausea, and my pain so by the time I had something ready to eat I couldn't eat it!

Good point Willow. A multi vitamine is very important. I drank alot of vitamin water as well. I actually got to the point were I was eating baby food bc it wasn't harsh on my stomach.
