After much waiting and pouring over the threads on this site, I have my first lap tomorrow morning! The surgeon keeps changing the time, so fingers crossed that all goes according to the current plan. I live on my own, so that plan was for me to spend the first couple of days of recovery with my parents (my mom is a nurse who preps kids for surgery so she will be so much help!) but my youngest sister has come down with an awful strain of the flu that they fear is becoming pnemonia and is highly contagious. Poor little thing! My doc says that I absolutely cannot be in the house with her when I'm recovering. So, that throws a wrench in plans, but my mom and boyfriend have offered to take shifts helping me out the first few days. Thanks for all of the advice you've put here and wish me luck!

Sorry for the change in the plan, this flu season has been crazy! Having bad allergies after one of my laps, I can assure you coughing, sneezing, or nose blowing after a lap is so not a picnic. Good luck with surgery, I hope all goes well.

Well ladies, it feels bittersweet to say that I am officially in the endo club. I had my surgery yesterday and I have to say that I am very pleased with my surgeon, Dr. Yeung. He came in before he surgery to meet my entourage and outline the procedure one more time. While I was in recovery, he took my parents and boyfriend in a consultation room and spent 15 minutes explaining what he had done and even encouraged them to record him to play back to me. He had a good 15-20 photos of the surgery to show them and explained everything. My mom is a nurse and she was very impressed. My boyfriend was a little grossed out, haha.
There was a hiccup with the video taking (my mom thought she was recording but didn't realize until halfway that she wasn't) so I only got to hear the second half, but I'll hear the rest at my post op. basically, he put me at stage 2. He found 4 spots with endo and a couple of adhesions. He said that my bowel was stuck to something and then there was one more, but I didn't get that part. The endo was on my bowel, ureter, my left ligament that holds the uterus in place, and one other spot that I can't remember. He used a CO2 laser and was confident that he got everything out.
Fertility wise, he said that everything looks great, which I am very excited about!
Recovery seems to be going ok, not feeling great but that is to be expected after major surgery! Dr. Yeung wants his patients up and walking around the house from day one, so he prescribed Percocet and prescription strength ibuprofen to alternate every 3 hours, along with a prescription stool softener twice a day. So, I am feeling pretty good all drugged up!
Thanks for the well wishes!

After 5 days of taking prescribed stool softeners I finally had a BM. While I was prepared for it to be painful after my lap, I was a bit startled by how bloody about half of it was and the other half had some sort of white mucous on/in it. (Sorry for the TMI) I did not strain to pass it. Is that normal after abdominal surgery, or is it cause for concern that would warrant a call to my surgeon (my post op is Friday, Feb 9).
I can't seem to find advice on this on another thread, but forgive me if its out there.

Hi! Good to hear your surgery went well! I hope you are recovering well. I would definitely talk to your surgeon about the blood in your stool just to be sure everything is ok. Has it happened again or was it that one time?

Talk to the doc, but I'd also keep an eye on things to see if it was just because it was it was the first. I'm glad surgery went well, keep up and about but be sure not to overdue things!

I'm glad everything went well. Make sure to call the doc about the blood in your stool. Also ask for a copy of the surgery report. It really helped me understand what the doctor did since my mom could not remember and the post op still left me with some questions.

My stool today was normal, so when I talked to my surgeon's nurse today she said that it's probably fine, but she would run it by my doctor anyway. I also have the joy of being allergic to my pain med, percocet, and am covered in an itchy rash that Benadryl won't help. Ibuprofen has begun to make me feel nauseous from taking it so much, so the nurse told me to do Tylenol, which does not do anything for me. She is also asking the surgeon to phone me in something that is not in the -codone family (allergic to Vicodin too Ugh
