I think I could fall asleep at any moment through out the day.. I think it could be related to the constant pain or to feeling so stressed out. I was wondering if anyone knew of a natural remedy for me. I have tried green tea and the caffeine seems to work for an hour. I need something for all day. Thank you!

The best way for me to wake myself up is to take a brisk, 10 minute walk outside in the fresh air.

I had this recently and they think it was mono. So you could just be sick and need the rest right now. If its been going on awhile I would talk to dr or research homeopathic remedies. but if its recent maybe you just need some sleep.

I get tired a lot and especially around my period. I try to sleep the normal amount at night about 7 hours, then have little naps when I need them in the day, of only 15 minutes and I wake up really refreshed! Another thing is to avoid caffeine, eat a good varied diet and exercise each day. All those things combined make you less tired and you feel healthier xx

Have you had your iron checked? I just found out I was anemic and now that I am taking an iron supplement I am slowly starting to feel better. I am still tired but don't feel like I could fall asleep at my desk at any moment I have also found the caffeine actually makes it worse. It is a vicious cycle of ups and downs. I am slowly cutting back on the caffeine and drinking more water and I don't have that huge afternoon crash that I used to dread.

I also get very tired.
Agree, steer clear of the caffeine, will do you more harm than good. Hard to not have though i know, i still have the odd cup, and stress makes me more likely to have it.
Im also anaemic, the iron supplements help, but for me they have not been enough, its the pain i think that makes me so tired.
I sleep as much as my body needs, but i dont work anymore coz of the illness so i can. Naps are good, but keep them short so you still sleep that night, like Cherry's doing.
B complex can also help.
Other than that regular exercise, even if only a bit will help energy levels, it also helps the pain, unfortunately is hard to exercise when tired and sore, but if you can it will help.

Thank you ! I have had mono a couple of times, and I feel that tired.. but I usually have other symptoms like a soar throat that accompanies that. I don't really have that much caffeine in my diet, just the random cup of tea. I will try the B complex and hopefully can return to my exercise after dealing with this disease and having my Laproscopy next Wednesday. Thanks again for all the ideas!!

hi, after my drs assumed it was mono ,further testing showed it was low potassium and low sodium...i was exercising and watching my diet so much I dehydrated. i dont know how awful this sounds but the nurses told me drink some Gatoraid and eat some chinese food (which is unheard of to me since i was avoiding all salts, preservatives etc)...even gatoraid tasted salty to me. BUT i sucked it up and eventually stopped seeing "Stars and floaty things" because i was so tired. SO I hope a couple sport drinks or Ensure work for you too.

I also feel low energy for many months. I think walking in the freash air and looking at the green trees really refreshing. Green really makes the eyes feel good. Also tea works for me...

If the iron and B vitamins don't help, try having more protein with your breakfast. Though everyone is right that caffeine can cause a vicious cycle, I find that if I only have it when I really need it, then a little goes a long way. If your diet is balanced with enough protein, carbs, iron and Bs, then you shouldn't feel a caffeine crash from one small cup of coffee or tea. But again, it's probably not a good idea to become too dependent on caffeine.
Ditto to the Ensure and Gatorade suggestion--those have helped me, too.

Hi there I know you posted this a while back. But thought I'd like to talk to you about it. I had mono 4 years ago..and this past summer thought i had it again..test came back negative, but the Dr. tested me for the ebstein-bar virus.( the virus that causes mono) and it was positive. He said I had a chronic EBV infection..nothing he could do..I guess EBV stays in you body your entire life, and can come out of remission at times.and he dismissed the fact that i may have endo. saying "EBV can mock endo." and to wait. I don't believe that..but that's besides the point...I began seeing a naturopathinc Dr. and she has helped me tremendously with dealing with this..as i was exhausted all the time. B vitamins are essential, and she gave me medicinal mushrooms that specifially fight this virus I believe these things have helped me. Just thought i would pass it on..maybe that is part of what had been bothering you.

I have found Nutritional products that helped me and gave me more energy naturally. From my training I have learned that especially those who are on meds (like many of us) that it destroys things in your body that help you get nutrients from your food, and also stops your cells from working properly and giving you energy. There are natural ways to rebuild your body on a cellular level and give you incredible nutrition too.

Hopefully it doesn't apply to anyone else here, but watch out for depression symptoms when you are chronically tired. Chronic fatigue is often a warning sign that you may be becoming depressed. Usually it is accompanied by loss of interest in normal activities, feeling down (duh), loss of appetite or other things. Chronic pain can lead to depression just by itself, too.
Hopefully, none of these are the case for anyone here, but if they are, it might be a good idea to tell your doctor.
In the mean time, have a cold glass of water and go for a walk :-)
