Yeah, I'm taking them separate. I'm taking 300 mg alpha-lipoic acid and 500 mg acetyl L-carnitine 2 times a day. I had a really rough week - I was really tired and super busy - but by the end of the day Friday, I wasn't as bad as I thought I'd be and even went to happy hour with some coworkers. I had planned on flaking. Today, I was shopping at Target and actually found myself remembering things that I needed instead of waiting until I got home to recall. So maybe there's still hope for me? I might try taking it 3x a day instead...
Your combo from GNC has 200 mg alpha-lipoic acid and 500 mg acetyl L-carnitine per capsule...

Mine is 600 ALC and 150 ALA.

It appears that ALC is the main component, and ALA is the booster, if you will.
Hope you see some results, Helen!

Erm, I think it may have kicked in this afternoon on day 2. I'm by no means flying around like supergirl, but I do have a bit more energy and am starting to feel more mentally alert. Bring it on!

The mentally alert was what I first noticed. I had gotten to the point of feeling so damn stupid, it was a struggle even to send an email, much less do the writing part of my job. The flying kicked in later. I hope it continues to work for you both!

Yeah the mental alertness was the best part. I wasn't in that brain fog anymore! I still have quite a bit of energy and I'm surprised I have survived this vacation so far with as much running around we have done.

Just took my first dose. Bought the same one as you, Jenaya. Can't wait to see if the brain fog goes away. The other day my 17 year old commented that I'm not as sharp as I use to be. Seems I'm always scrambling to find the right word. REALLY hoping this can clear that up.

I've felt stupid and exhausted again today and was about to think the magic pill had let me down. Then I looked in the mirror and I'm white as a ghost (quite an achievement for a red head with what I think is politely called "high color"). I assume that instead of the drug's letting me down, this horrible period has just dumped me off the cliff into anemia again. CAN'T WIN!

I increased my dose of ALC on Sunday - I'm now taking it 3 times a day instead of 2. I'm keeping my dose of ALA the same, only taking it twice a day. Yesterday and today I've had that crash feeling at night where I feel like I just want to close my eyes and fall asleep NOW, but I *think* I may be feeling marginally better while at work. I don't want to jinx it, and I still don't feel nearly as good as I used to, but I'm hoping it means there's progress!

The first couple days I was taking it I was feeling good during the day then crashing at night. It took a while for it to kick in fully. I notice when I take it 3x a day instead of 2x then I can't sleep at night.

First pill made me feel like I drank 3 Starbucks coffees. Second pill had the same affect but didn't last as long. Weird thing for me - when I drink coffee it makes me sleepy and I felt the same way with these pills. Real relaxed, but shaky. Woke up this morning with intense endo pain on my left ovary and lower back. Lots of nausea and diarrhea - wondering if it's the vitamins. Read online side effects can cause nausea and diarrhea. I'm a little afraid to take another dose but don't want to quit too soon. Anyone else have side effects?

WHOA yikes! I haven't had any side effects at all. I just feel better. I wonder if it's just something that your body doesn't agree with.
