K. I really ovulated. Had a 5 day luteal phase, with temp. dropping drastically after only 3dpo. Have my period, and it's not bad at all. Even though I ovulated, there is no way I could have sustained a pregnancy with such a short luteal phase. I could probably help it with progesterone cream, but since I'm nursing, I dont' consider that an option. Scared to speak too soon, but having had a baby seems to have actually helped my periods!

Well that's good news if it's helped. Don't tell my old doc that though, he was so obsessed about me getting pregnant, another reason why I left him. I think I need to start charting, not for TTC, just for my own knowledge. Last month there was relatively little pain and minimal bloating, this month I'm in really bad pain about mid cycle with crazy bloating and breast tenderness... I'm wondering if I did not ovulate last month. Maybe I'll look into a bit more after this cycle, which I'm terrified is going to be horrid. Next week will be no fun

Just posted about my crazy sleepless nights on the CIO board, but I have a question here, too. Given that I'm hardly sleeping at all and spend much of the night up soothing the baby, how valuable is it to take my temperature? Should I take it at the same time, or after whatever chunk of sleep happened to be the longest? Obviously, the other signs will be more important than they usually are, but it would be really nice to have a temp pattern as well.
If my temp pattern is not helpful, are there any other sure ways of knowing whether I've ovulated? I've been having "background mucus" for a few months, so even though I'm stepping up those observations and starting to chart formally again, I'm getting nervous about missing the signs.
My son will be six months old next week (!), and he gets cereal once a day already, so I'm already pushing the limits of the usual six-months of very low probability. Any advice?
