Agh you finally got it huh...so sorry! at least you held yours off longer than me. I have now had 3 cycles...each once worse than the time before. But I have finally been given a prescription that really seems to be working...I have not had much discomfort between my periods since starting it...well see how the next period is....the next period will be the first since starting the med.

the only reason i'm pissed is that i was pretty much exclusively breastfeeding, though...less than 1 bottle per month, she feeds every hour during the day & every 2 hours @ night. we barely even give her solids.
glad your meds are working!

Okay. Period completed! Lasted 4 days!!!! NOOOO cramps! And I've been eating not so healthily. Could having had a baby really have helped me? Could I be one of the lucky few? Am I jinxing myself by even attempting to think this possible?

thanks, Minnie. Okay. I bought the book anneny recommended, and I think I've figured out why I'm ovulating even though we nurse like mad multiple times per hour. Naptime. Apparently, women who nurse like crazy but don't sleep with their babies for naptime tend to ovulate sooner! I have to admit that I've begun nursing her down then putting her in her swing as quickly as possible to have at least a tad bit of me-time. I didn't sleep but I did read in bed with her during her nap. And gues what...in 1.5 hours, she nursed 4 times! That's 4 extra feeds that I woudn't have done had she been rocking away in her swing! I will try reading in bed during her nap times for the next month or so and see if it makes a difference. Sometimes she naps 3 times a day...that's potentially 12 extra feeds! Usually 2 naps, but still! That's a lot of nursing sessions I've been slacking on! Thanks, anneny, for the book recommendation! You're probably busy nursing your little one right now! Can't wait to hear from you!

Yep, I'm nursing away. He eats at least every two hours, except at night, when it's more like every three. He's eating on demand, but (as I mentioned a while ago on the co-sleeping thread) we're not co-sleeping because my bed isn't big enough or safe enough. We have him in a pac n' play right next to the bed so it works like a co-sleeper. I don't need to get out of bed to feed him, which is great. It's only been a week and a half, but things seem to be going well. I'll keep you posted.
Glad you found the book helpful!

Anneny, thank you SOOOO much! I'm now back in lactational amenorrhea (spelling?) after reading 1/2 of the book! It totally was napping with her that threw me back into ovulation! That book is sooooo worth reading! How are you doing?

That's great! I'm so glad the book helped you.
I'm hanging in there. My mother-in-law was here to help for the first four weeks, and my mom was here last week, so this is the first week I'm on my own. It's interesting because everything like cooking and cleaning was taken care of while they were here, and both are supportive of my breastfeeding, but it was hard to do ecological breastfeeding because they wanted to help hold the baby, change him, etc. That meant I didn't really get the mother-baby oneness they recommend, which is not to say we were apart, but I definitely wasn't baby-wearing.
There were a couple of other complications, too. He had to stay two extra nights in the hospital after I was discharged because he had a hematoma (sp?) on his arm. He got one bottle of formula the first night because my milk hadn't come in, and then the next night he got two bottles of breastmilk. When he was two weeks old, I got mastitis and had to go to the ER, and while I was gone he got two bottle feedings of pumped milk. Part of why I got it was the sleep deprivation (he ate for twenty minutes every two hours and it takes me over an hour to fall asleep--you do the math), so I was ordered to be on modified bed rest for three days and only allowed to give one night feeding, and he got pumped milk the other times. Luckily I got better quickly, and no one tried to tell me I had to wean him. So it's really just been the last two weeks that I've been able to feed him truly on demand.
I do nap with him, though he hardly ever asks to eat during his nap, and we have him in the Pack n Play next to our bed at night. I do some babywearing, but even if he's not right on me, I'm within five feet of him. He got into a bit of a pacifier habit while I had mastitis, and I haven't broken him of it completely yet. I only let him have it if we're out walking with him in his stroller and I literally cannot take him out, or occasionally during the day if he's fussy but I need to eat. He's using it less and less, and hopefully by the end of the week he'll be off it completely.
Wow. This got long! Part probably should have been in the breastfeeding or Rant and Rave threads, but oh well. I'll redeem myself by asking a relevant question. :-)
When did you start temping after your little one was born?

Sounds like you guys are getting on well despite some hurdles! Glad you got your mastitis cleared! Scary!!!! I started temping here-and-there at about 3 months or so? I felt like I was going to get my period...but I guess the nursing was just causing some contractions? I have no idea, really, what it was. Oh. And I jinxed myself, I do believe. LOL! I think I ovulated the day I posted this! Oh well. Guess we'll see.

yay! I just went to my post-partum check-up, and the doctor asked what I wanted to use for birth control. I told her lactational amenorrhea was enough for now and that I was very familiar with charting. She was a little skeptical, but didn't force the issue. She just said to call her if I changed my mind.
I need to re-read the book now that I'm actually nursing and have a better idea of what to expect. I'd love to get at least nine months (preferably a year) more without worrying about endo pain!

Yeah...remember that I was going to try for a year of amenorrhea? Not gonna happen. (Warning: TMI to follow) I have stretchy mucus and my cervix is high already. And the baby's only 14 weeks old!!! GRRRRRRRR!!!
The worst part is that I'm starting to get crampy like it was with the endo before I was pregnant. :-(
Oh well. I'm going to keep doing the ecological breastfeeding, and maybe this will be a fluke. At least I knew what to look for so I won't have Irish twins! ;-)

Aawwwww, shucks, anneny! Are you napping w/ your baby? That was my mistake. SOOO glad you saw your fertility signs, though!

Yep; we have a nap together nearly every day. He only gets a bottle of breast milk about once a month, and I make up for the missed feeding with extra pumping. We aren't co-sleeping at night because my bed isn't safe, but he still gets up to eat at least three times per night, and sometimes more. I'm going to check the book again and see if I'm missing anything else.
I've been pretty stressed out recently, and they said that could affect it.
Luckily, the fertility signs seem to be waning after only a very short time, so it could be that I won't get my period or that even if I do, the cycle was anovulatory.
I'll keep you posted.
