Pockets dry incredibly fast! I didn't buy any all-in-ones bc I didn't want to take the time with the long dry-time. From what I've read, everyone LOVES wool covers! I don't have any bc all of mine have PUL.

Denna, if you find your pockets ever repel, skip the scrubbing with dish soap and go straight for Baby Oxi-Clean! Fixes 'em right up! Just fill the washer full load, laundry soap you use, and 2 scoops of baby oxi-clean!

No I didn't..... I really wanted to but I thought it would be too hard to wash the diapers. I still think about it now and then........ I think they have a service in town that will pick them up but they use clorox I am sure so it defeats the purpose right?

Tiff! Breastfed baby poop is the easiest! You just toss the diapers in a pail and then dump into the laundry! BF baby poop is completely water soluble! You don't have to do a thing to them!

Really just throw the poopy diaper straight into the washing machine with out even rinsing them or anything? My daughter is starting to eat some cereal and peas now so it is not just breast milk any more. The diapers don't leak or anything??? I am real nervous about spending all the money on cloth diapersa and then not liking it! Can you buy them in stores or can you only buy them online?

Well, you'd have to shake solids off into the toilet. We've only had one diaper we've had to do that with. We skipped cereals and are doing baby-led solids. So far she's had pear, banana, green beans, and asparagus. The only diaper we had to shake off was the green beans and asparagus. I nurse her before I let her try to feed herself. You can buy them at natural stores, but one store I buy from offers free shipping. You could buy one pocket diaper to try--they're on sale! I stuff mine with her preemie prefolds (different type of cloth diaper). The pocket diapers I have are one-size-fits-all, so I never have to buy more unless I want to. Let's see. You coudl get this really cute pocket to try and stuff it with a hand towel (just to try) and try it out for $15.19 NO SHIPPING! Or, you could add a microfiber insert for $1.75.

Orrr. You could try prefold diapers with a diaper cover from another place. One Pro-Wrap cover plus 2 prefolds would run you $14.33 with shipping. and the prefold

Warning, though. You can ask Denna! Cloth diapering is addictive!
I am proud to say that we have had 0 blowouts with cloth, and she will be 6 months tomorrow!
I can't say that for her time in sposies!

So you can stick the whole thing in the washing washine? You dont have to pull anything apart or seperate the diaper in any way? How many diapers do you go through a day? If I were to buy one and dedide I love it... how many would I need, guesstimate for a day? Are they really one size fits all? I guess I am asking if she is on the smaller size she wont leak through becasue it is too big? Sorry for all the questions.... I would really prefer to cloth diaper but nervous about the price of starting out. I just want to make sure all my fears of cloth diapering are answered

Well since her bowl movement are not solid do I just throw that all into the wash too or do I need to rinse it first?
Which cloth diapers do you prefer? I saw your posting for the non-pin pre folds but dont understand how they work in holding the diaper together with out the pins.

If you go with a pocket diaper, you'd have to pull the insert out and then toss it all into the pail. But I have NEVER gotten poop on my fingers EVER with cloth! I did using sposies, though! The prefolds are nice bc you just take off and toss into the pail. Pockets contain messes awesomely, whereas prefolds have to be put on just so (but you get good at it really quickly). How many you need depends on how much your kiddo poops/pees in a day! My baby stilllllllllllll poops 4-10 times a day! Crazy, I know! Yesterday, she went through 17 diapers! She went through that many in sposies, too, though. (We used them while we traveled and delt with a rash.) My baby has been in the same pockets since she was 7 pounds. Before that, we used preemie prefolds. In the pockets, she has gone up 3 snap sizes already! And they're still fitting nicely! PLENTY of room to grow! You adjust the snaps to fit the leg hole size. It goes really quickly once you get it down, too! If you are nervous about the price, start small and work your way up if you like it.

I saw your posting for the non-pin pre folds but dont understand how they work in holding the diaper together with out the pins. If they are not solid, I'd just toss it in the pail. I do one rinse, followed by a hot wash. I use Allen's naturally powder detergent (after making a mistake by using regular detergents!). I prefer both pockets and prefolds. It just depends on my mood. I love pockets in that they hold in BF poop sooo great and you can adjust the absorbency you need by stuffing them more...plus, they don't need a cover, but I love how trim prefolds are. Ah. With some diaper covers (for prefolds), you can fold the prefold into little pocket catches and then just put on like a disposable, or you can use a snappi. A snappi is a GREAT alternative to using pins! Here is some info on snappis. www.snappibaby.com/products/snappidiaperfastener.html
