Here are a few quick cloth diapering facts. Taken from a website--that I can't list bc I have already closed the window!!! Sorry! _____________________________________________________________
Cloth Diapering: a "Win-Win-Win" Situation
Your baby wins Your little one will probably have less diaper rash in cloth diapers than in disposable diapers. While many parents assume that cloth causes more diaper rash, most of us who use cloth find that our children have less diaper rash than when they were in disposables. In cloth diapers, your baby’s bottom is not in contact with potentially harmful chemicals like dioxins and sodium polyacrylate. Dioxins are cancer-causing byproducts of the paper bleaching process; traces of it may still be found in disposable diapers. Sodium polyacrylate is the chemical gel that makes disposable diapers superabsorbent. It often leaks out of the diaper and onto the baby's skin. This chemical has been linked to Toxic Shock Syndrome in tampons (it's now banned from use in tampons!), and in severe diaper rash and bleeding (rare but serious). Studies funded by the large disposable diapers companies claim that these chemicals are harmless. But no long-term, unbiased studies have supported these claims. Cloth is cuter, and it must be so much more comfortable than mushy gel-filled paper. True, a little baby won't necessarily know the difference. But you do.
The environment wins You will avoid sending 8,000 wads of paper, plastic, and poop to the landfill. That's a whole ton of diaper waste for every baby who uses disposable diapers throughout his/her diapering career. Diapers account for about one third of our non-biodegradable waste. Less raw materials are used and less waste is generated in the making of cloth diapers than in the production of disposables. Sending waste down the toilet keeps our groundwater clean. Poop carries germs, which can escape the diaper and contaminate nearby groundwater. The best place for human waste is the toilet!
You win! A good, basic cloth diapering system will save you about $1500 over your baby’s diapering “career.” This type of system might include good-quality prefold diapers (which go for about $20-25 per dozen) and simple covers (which go for $6-10 each). You only need a few dozen diapers and a handful of covers. And they can be re-used for more than one baby! The most expensive system will still save you about $750! This type of system might include Fuzzi Bunz or other pocket diapers, or fitted diapers with a few wool covers. Again, you only need a few dozen over 3 years, and you can re-use them for subsequent children. Your baby may potty train about a year earlier in cloth than she or he would in disposables. If this happens, you'll be saving yourself about 1500 diaper changes! Not bad!

That's great ouchy, I will save that article cos I'm now all for using cloth diapers. The jaw dropping price of disposables alone is ridiculous! I loved these swim pants www.treecitydiapers.com/store/category/1049/63/Swim-Diapers/And knowing that dioxin is almost certainly a cause of endometriosis, I am not putting my baby at risk of this further than having my genes. The thought of a baby waddling around for a swim is adorable but in one of these and matching swim booties, so sweet! xx

They're addictive! THere is a lime green flower one that I want, too...but I"m not going to do it. Here is the one I bought. www.treecitydiapers.com/store/product/13252/Mommy%27s-Touch-Orange-Retro/

Grrrrr! Ok. So, I couldn't stop at two. I"ve purchased 4! Wellll, the last print I bought had me pay for it, but the "shopping cart" still shows it as being unpurchased! I have my receipt and everything! I've e-mailed the owner of the store, and she said that has never happened before. BUTTTTT, she has further lowered the sale prices, and the diaper I purchased still shows as beign in stock! I hope no one buys it and I get screwed out of it even though I already purchased it!!!!!

I've been making baby wipes with flannel on one side and terry cloth (towel material) on the other. They're really cute! I'll post a pic when I'm finished w/ them. I have 15 more to go! I also found a store that sells glass spray bottles instead of plastic ones! I figured glass spray bottles would be good to store homemade baby wipe solution in. I bought a couple 4-oz. bottles and a couple 2-oz. bottles. I think the 4-oz. bottles will be good for the changing table and the 2-oz'ers good for the diaper bag. I figured at least at some point one will either break or get misplaced, so I bought 2 of each. They're cute! If anyone is interested in glass bottles for any various reason, here is the link to the store. They have a lot of cool stuff. THey have plastic and tin, too. But I was excited to find the glass ones. www.specialtybottle.com/?utm_source=overture&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=glass+spray+bottle&OVRAW=glass%20spray%20bottle&OVKEY=glass%20spray%20bottle&OVMTC=standard&OVADID=1148852012&OVKWID=8182740512

Well, the cloth diapers I have are wayyyyyyyy too big for her! We were using the disposable ones the hospital sent us home with, but my little super soaker can soak through a sposie with one peepee! I ordered preemie cloth prefolds (old school kind of cloth!), and we haven't had a single leak. I just ordered 2 more dozen, so we'll have 4 dozen total. They're only $9.00 a dozen! Cheap! And soooo easy to wash--just throw in the washer! Apparently, no need to rinse breastfed babypoop in the toilet first! Just throw in the washer w/ an extra rinse and then toss the dryer!

I like the idea of the cloth nappies (sorry but I am English!). They are a really great idea and so much better in every sense. I have a strong image of baby poop swishing round the washing machine now! Nice

It doesn't look like the classic image of baby poop! It's weird! It's like a honey mustard color and is gritty? LOL! Best way I can describe it. Looks a lot like a Middle Eastern hot sauce called "Amba." But gritty. LOL Anyway, doesn't look like poop at all
