Sorry. I don't post where I live on here. Somewhere too crazy for my tastes, though!

I think I will start taking my camera with me and take pictures of "service" dogs and send them to both the health department, news stations, and ADA.

This world is backwards. Kids on leashes, dogs in strollers. Oy. I kinda' like the kids on leashes idea. Heh. With the way parents are parenting these little monsters these days, it's no wonder they end up on leashes. The stuff I see at work - some kids are insanely well behaved, I don't hear a peep outta them. Others...the horns are out and they are sharp. I've always said to myself that I would take a different approach to parenting when I have kids. That I'll be open minded, try different things with them...keep them stimulated, interested. I can only hope that I do not allow myself to go the other way and become my mother, and that I will keep the promises I have made for myself as a future mother.

Speaking of services animals, on the plane we allow "emotional support pets", someone walked up with an emotional support ferret, I almosted peed myself laughing. Maybe I should be more sympothetic?

I don't think the ADA would be too pleased to see what has been passing as "service dogs"!

OMIG! I almost peed myself laughing at this post!!!!! I SO have the image of you in my mind...up at the little counter..."an emotional support ferret? ?..then the laughter and trying to hold it back! LOL! Now I want to bring the most rediculous animal I can on board next time. "This is my emotional support earth worm. I cuddle him, and he gives me kissese and hugs in return."

When I was really sick in eighth grade I had a homebound teacher who had two pet ferrets, and she was as crazy about them as I was about my cats. They actually have very complex personalities. They're affectionate and everything like other, larger pets. If I would want my cat around for emotional support, I can see why someone would want a ferret.

I wasn't comparing a ferret to an earth worm. I just think it would be funny to try to bring along the most outlandish pet to see just how much you can get away with.

Oh, I'm so not knocking the ferrets credability, don't get me wrong - it just...shocked me? Heck, I've ridden horses my whole life, I've seen emotional support ponies (now THAT'S a sight to be seen!). Pets do become your children, they become very important to us in our lives, and I couldn't stand it when we had to put our dog down. Even when I had to sell my horses - you get so attached to this huge animal that you basically put your life on the line for. I mean jumping over jumps that were upward of 4', I had to trust them with my life.
But, never in a million years would I bring my dog into a grocery store, or dress it up in clothes (unless it was halloween and he I was 12 and my mother made him my "rapper" boyfriend...Please don't ask.), or even say it was an emotional support animal when it most certainly IS NOT. That to me is an insult to those who do need service animals. Godforbid you actually did...
