Hi everyone, I dn't know if you have read my posts from before but I have been doing this new regime to try and keep my endo at bay (and to try and avoid a lap)
I started it on the 3rd day of my period (9th October).
My period has always been very regular...2 days later than the last period which I think takes me to a cycle of about 32 days. I am confused to whether this indicates I am ovulating or not as I can't really find a straight answer to whether regulare periods = ovulation.
Anyway I am sort of trying to get pregnant and it is the 13th Nov today and I haven't "come on" yet (I started on the 6th Oct last month) I have taken a pregnancy test today which came up negative so I don't think I am pregnant. The things I have done throughout october is take agnus castus and licorice root, homeopathy for cysts, and I have also been given a low dose of thyroxin. Do you think this could be the reason why I am late? I have been feeling the last 4 days that I am gonna come on at any minute but nothing has happened! On the good side I have had no pain whatsover!! this whole month has been pain free but I will not say for sure my regime is working until I get my next period as that is the real test.
Any thoughts on if my regime could be reason for late period? also is it possible to be pregnant still (I am thinking impossible as the test result of urine was negative)
Thanks
L

hi macymoo,
your story is very familiar to me..i'had the same feeling for at least half year before i was diagnosed with endo.many occassion i am very sure that i have fallen pregnant because of late period. i have wasted quite a number prenancy test. my period is very regular too but lately instead of 28 days cylce it went to 30 ,31,32 and it was very frustruating when i have ALL the pregnancy symptoms but NEGATIVE test.
there are 2 posibility that i knew- hormon imbalance and another hormon/enzim ( according to my gynae it will make us have an early miscarriage- i forgot the name may be protagladin so something- you can read in this website under infertility
a friend of mine has the hormon imbalance and took some herbs-i'm taking that now and manage to get pregnant the second month she took it.
hope this helps and do put your name under the trying to conceive list so that we can learn form your experience too.thanks

ok, this is what i'm talking about: i just copy and paste but you can always go there and read the rest
Prostaglandins
One major group of hormones secreted by the normal endometrium is that of the prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are oil-based hormones found in nearly all the tissues of the body and are required for many bodily processes, including several stages of the menstrual cycle and pregnancy.
Prostaglandins are required for ovulation, regression of the corpus luteum (i.e., ending the monthly menstrual cycle), sperm motility, immune interaction, contraction of the uterus at birth and menstrual cramps. Endometriosis implants and the endometrium of the uterus are the richest source of prostaglandin production in the body.
However, the problem with Endometriosis implants includes: - Prostaglandins are released into the abdomen instead of inside the womb - Prostaglandins release by the implants seem to be out of phase with their release by the uterus. Prostaglandins are produced at the wrong time sending the wrong message.
For instance, there is a normal surge in prostaglandin F production at the end of the menstrual cycle, causing the effect of the copus luteum of the ovary to die down and signaling the start of a new menstrual cycle. The implants of Endometriosis produce their own prostaglandin surge several days after that of the womb lining. This may be one of the main causes of very early miscarriage.
If a women is a few days pregnant then the Endometriosis implants producing prostaglandin F would incorrectly signal the ovary to start a new menstrual cycle, causing the womb lining with the implanted egg to be expelled - and the consequence is an early miscarriage.
Prostaglandins also play an important role in the contractions of womb and fallopian tubes. During the normal menstrual cycle, the gentle contraction of the womb and fallopian tube aids the movement of egg and sperm to the outer third of the fallopian tube where fertilization occurs. High concentrations of endometriosis implants may prevent fertilization. An excess of PGF2 and PGE2 could cause contractions that are too strong and expel the egg too quickly.

Hi, macymoo. To answer your question about regular periods and whether or not they = ovulation...it's most likely that if you have clockwork-like periods that you are ovulating. However, it is possible to have an anovulatory cycle every-now-and-then. When you did your preg. test, did you use FMU (first morning urine)? It is important to use FMU in the beginning, because it is in FMU that the hormones are the most concentrated. Also, the sensitivity of the test could play a role. The higher the count that the test is able to detect, the more important it is to use FMU. However, if you are more than a week late for your period and test using FMU, pretty much any test should be able to detect the HCG (pregnancy hormone) level, as it is supposed to double every 48 hours.
My advice would be to go to the doc. and ask for a blood test. Explain your story exactly like you did here, and he will probably order a qualitative blood test. IF the qualitative test comes back +, you will probably have a quantitative blood test ordered, which measures HCG. Then you'll probably have to go back in 48 hours or so to make sure it has doubled. If it is negative, ask for a progesterone test. I believe that the doc. will be able to tell w/ this whether or not you are having an anovulatory cycle.
Good luck. Keep us posted!

Thanks for both your responses. I did the test in the afternoon (and after a drink of water) as I am due on the 32nd day and I am now on the 38th day so not really majorly late. I do feel like I am gonna come on any minute though and I can't imagine you feel like that when you are pregnant. The other thing is I have put a stone on in the last month which may suggest pregnancy but my period could be late because I have put weight on (and taken the herbs and thyroxine) To all those that have been pregnant what do you feel like in the first week? do you feel like your period is due at any minute? if not I am probably just late
Thanks for all your advice and help

...Try taking a test first thing when you wake up. After you drink, it doesn't work well.

My period this month was three days late, which is VERY strange for me. I also felt like I was going to start my period at any minute, but I took a pregnancy test just to make sure. It was negative. (By the way, I did some research on pregnancy tests, and surprisingly, the cheap store-brand Walmart ones are very sensitive and accurate.)
I've never been pregnant before, but when my best friend was pregnant she did not use her first morning urine and her test was positive immediately, and that was on the first day of her missed period.
A lot of the tests are 97% accurate, so I'd guess that chances are you aren't pregnant. You may want to go to your dr. and make sure though and check if something else could be wrong.

I would go for a blood test. I know plenty of women that didn't test postitive on a home test until month 3, but did register on blood test. Some people just don't have high enough concentrations of the hormone in their urine. I got positive tests before I missed my period, but everyone doesn't. If you drink alot of water your urine may be too dilute for it to register on the test. I did feel very crampy in early pregnancy due to all the stretching etc. I'm not sure about other symptoms as I knew before I missed my period so I didn't really pay attention to symptoms as I already knew.

glad it wasn't painful!!
weird thing that happened to me is that in my teens and early 20's i was 28 days on the button, and somehow worked up to 32 days...but found out i did not O this month, even though they consider me to be totally 'regular'..strange. maybe a late O, cause day 32, and no af, and no hpt+ cause no O...lol. why waste?
