Hi all, I am heading for my hysterectomy July 19th. The plan is to leave at least one of my ovaries. I am excited just to have some relief from this terrible cramping and bleeding.

Hey, lainey! Wow! That's only a little more than a month away! Hope the time until surgery flies by for you!!! You should put up a ticker so we all remember when you're going in!

Good idea about the ticker!!! Surgery will be at Metro Hospital in Grand Rapids. They are building a brand new high tech hospital but it doesn't open until the fall. I have always been happy with the way I was treated there and that's what counts anyway!

I know. She hasn't logged-in for 3 days, though, so I didn't want people to start freaking out yet.

So we can keep track of people who go off to have surgery, here is Laineybugger's recent update. I'm cominging the threads to keep it simple. I have not been around for awhile due to surgery. My bleeding and pain got to be completely unbearable. I had a hysterectomy on July 19th. Open abdominal so I have an incision from one side of my belly to the other. They removed my uterus, cerix, endo, and adhesions, but left my ovaries so I won't have to do hormone therapy. It was rough in the beginning with the pain and not being able to get around much. I spent 3 days in the hospital then had my fiance home the first week to care for me. Exactly 2 weeks later and I am doing a LOT better. I can get up and move around and pretty much take care of myself. I am only take Vicodin occasionally for the pain and just take Ibuprofen most days. I go in next week and find out if I am cleared to start driving, etc again. I do not go back to work until sometime in September. I am so glad I found this site for the support I needed when I was having such a rough time.

my reply: Glad you're up and about so soon! It's great that you've come on to update us, I was a little worried cos we've hadn't heard from you for a while. Hope you continue to recover quickly. How is the time off work, are you bored out of your mind yet? xx
