Hi, was too embarassed to ask my gyno (in front of FH who attended my last appointment) - just wondering how long you are supposed to wait after surgery before you can have sex? Previous surgeries I have not even wanted to think about it for a month, but I think the mirena has done something really weird to my hormones... I am quite amorous atm... tia

When I asked my doc, he asked me if I wanted to know in hours or days! I think if you feel up to it, it's fine; as long as vaginal bleeding has stopped, otherwise there is a slight risk of infection.

I was told I could do anything after the lap that I felt comfortable with as long as it didn't cause me any pain. In the event I think it was about 5 or 6 days?

If you had a D&C your are suppose to wait 2 weeks! There is chance for infection if you decide to try sooner. Both of my Dr. really emphasized 2 weeks, so I waited two weeks even though I felt better sooner. I would rather wait than to get an infection!

What? After a lap...Only days? Huh? Wha? No way! I was told twice after my last lap (they did work on my uterus lots tho) that I had to wait 6 weeks! It was on March 16th and I must admit...I felt pretty good last night, so my huby and I almost went for it! ;D However, I remembered what the doc said and decided to wait till at least this coming Friday! This is a big deal since before my surgery I'd not been able to have sex due to pain. Gosh, I think it was about 4 or 5 months...and I usually like sex, so there ya go!! Thought I'd share! ;D

the following quotes are from another topic started on the same are I couldn't find anything with this topic...Mods - if I missed it, lemme know. So today I am 9 days postop. Haven't seen my dr yet for a postop visit - that's next Friday. Anyway in my little surgery packet there is a sheet that says no sexual activity for 2 weeks. I'm a very sexual being, lol. Last night my bf and I had a date like every Friday... dinner at home, movie, obligitory fight on the car ride home over something completely useless. I don't know about anyone else, but after a good fight my bf and I get into bed, act like we don't give a you know what and then end up...well, under the covers. lol Ok. We ALL know men. They live by their heads, and you know which head I speak of. I felt bad for my bf and honestly was about ready to jump outta my skin my self, so...we tried. Fine at first, burned...but holy cow there was this intense amount of pressure and he could barely go in. Then the burning got more and more extreme until m bf notice something was wrong. I'm bad that way...I won't open my mouth :x 9 times outta 10 he stops cause he feels something is wrong with me. Either way - how long did it take you all to go back to normal sex? Not that sex is really ever normal for us...I just want to be intimate again without my evening ending in tears.

Whats sex??? Lol, sorry, kidding of course, but my sex life is a non event most of the time. I envy those who can enjoy it. I guess the general rule after surgery is whenever you feel ok to do it. Sounds like you tried a bit soon, just do some other fun naughty stuff for the time being.

After my lap, I also got the info from the nurse saying no "pelvic activity" for two weeks, but my gyne, who performed my lap, had told me I could have sex when the bleeding stopped (I also had a hysteroscopy.) And the bleeding stopped within two days. Maybe the two weeks' rule is just a standard warning. I envy you, tess, for feeling up for it - sex was the last thing on my mind for about two weeks after my lap... and the day I started feeling normal, my period started. Typical. I promised my husband we can go for it as soon as my period ends.

^LOL! I was told 2 weeks for no sex after my laps. I think we made it 1.5 weeks and couldn't wait to see if there was less pain. LOL
