Hi all, A little over two years ago, I was diagnosed with viral thyroiditis. The symptoms were very uncomfortable including extreme anxiety, hand tremors (minor) fatigue, weight loss and muscle pain. Saw an endocrinologist who was awesome. He was very thorough with testing and it did resolve after about six months. Several weeks ago, I started to feel these symptoms again and was in denial, but about 3 days ago, my thyroid started to enlarge and it became painful. (Here we go again) Some of you seem SO knowledgable about endo, and I am wondering if you have ever heard of a connection between the two. My hysterectomy is scheduled in less than a month, and I have a feeling this is going to put it on hold! I've always had a gut feeling that I have something auto-immune going on, because I've never been one to get sick with something obvious! (Swollen, painful joints with normal labs) Seeing my primary tomorrow, but any advise/ideas you may have would be great! Thanks again!

Hi, wendy! I'm not that familiar of a connection between thyroid problems and endometriosis, though erzulie may know more than I on the subject. I have heard of a connection between PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and thyroid problems, and a thyroid test was combined in my battery of hormone tests for PCOS. Re: tremors, etc. Have you read about multiple sclerosis? Those symptoms you describe are the same for MS, and w/ MS the tremors also come-and-go. True, though, if your thyroid started to enlarge at the same time you started experiencing these effects, then you're most likely right that it's thyroid-related. Anyway, good luck with your appointment tomorrow! Let us know how it goes!

Ok, went to the primary today. She feels that because my thyroid problem is viral, it should not put me at a higher risk for surgery. She thinks I should go ahead with it. She also told me to stop my supplement with black kohosh (among other things) because estrogen occurs naturally in these types of supplements, and we all know what more estrogen does for us. Any way, during my physical, she was poking around my abdomen and because of where I have pain, feels the endo is involving my colon now. Fun stuff we have here. Feeling a little disgusted with my body right now. Anyway, that is my follow up info. Hope you are all well.

I have been feeling as though I may have a thyroid problem too. I am having extreme fatigue, I'm always cold, and I keep losing weight. I also wondered if endo and thyroid problems could be connected. I have a Dr appointment next week and I am bringing it up. My Dr of 6 years left state so I have to explain it all to someone new. FUN FUN FUN Some Drs are just more understanding than others. I get so tired sometimes and wonder if its the usual endo tired or something new such as a thyroid problem. It can really be nerve racking worrying about it all.
