LOL. I guess "poppin' 'em out isn't really the best term. It's not like I don't have fertility and hormone issues. LOL. Anyway. That sucks! Talk about runaround!!! Do you have enough paper/wood to make a new table yet?

Well my hubby has testicular issues. ;D He had problems as a child down there and has major fearof someone cutting him down there. Because honestly, the price for a vasectomy versus the price of a mirena are pretty close. Maybe I could bonk him in the head and drag him in? heehee

I dont' know if it's true, but I know some men do it just for that!

Can i just say thanks guys for all your concern for me, it means alot. Has been a tough few weeks, have had a bad day today, tried stupidly not to take pain relief and was so exhausted because of it and couldnt function, ended up taking the pain relief by 7pm when it became too much. I wont make that mistake again, im obviously not ready to stop the analgesics, doc said it might take a few days to settle. Still loads better than with it in though Please dont anyone be frightened to try the mirena coz of my experiences, my case was unusual, i guess just be prepared for the fact that it may not work for you. I dont really regret trying it, at least i know now its not for me and can move on to something else. Was a very bad experience i never want to go through again but have to try these things, i need my life back and it potentially could have given me that. Good luck to anyone who is trying it. Karen im so glad your doing well on it, im always happy to hear of someone here improving.

Its a totally reversible option to try out. Vasectomy, hysterectomy, I'd save those after exhausting other options that I could undo. Kb's experience sucked, but they reversed it, no permanent damage done. I say give it a try and see what happens, you just never know till you try it.

posted by member zzerebecki in another thread ____________________________________________________ "Hi, dont really know where to post this one so i hope its in the right place Has anybody had the Mirena coil fitted and had a course of prostap at the same time? i was discusing this with my husband last night because i really cant see the point in having them both, the mirena coil is a hormonal device which keeps the lining of the womb thin so hopefully no periods(have not had one yeh) and it produces only progesterone and the prostap which basically thins the lining of your womb stop any bleeding and put you through the menopause at the same time i am taking hrt which contains both oestrogen and progestogen.......So as far as i can see do i really need both when they are basically doing the same thing!!!
Can anybody out there shed some light on this or have i got it all wrong
thanks zoe."

I cant imagine why you would need both, it seems overkill, but this is really something you need to discuss with you doctor. All we can provide is opinions.
Maybe there is a reason the docs want you on both and am sure can explain why, or theyve just not thought this through and have somehow left you on a medication that was meant to be ceased.
I wouldnt leave this, it sounds like something that could be damaging to your body to be on 2 therapies at once if your not meant to be.
Ring up you doctor and get this question answered as soon as you can. If its how its meant to be, at least your mind will be put at ease that your meant to be on both.

OK -- it's been a month since I got my Mirena IUD and so far am pretty happy -- but need some info from you IUD veterans!
I have had spotting every day since it was inserted -- but figured this was due to the lap at the same time & just cus it takes a while to get used to. I got my period a couple days ago -- bad cramps, more dark spotting, but a couple weird things are going on -- well, I think they're weird -- could just be normal???
The last couple days the odor of the brown clotty blood stuff is completely OBNOXIOUS -- I mean GROSS! Now -- I don't know if it smells cus it's been in there a while -- or if there is some sort of infection going on. Also -- I have had a low grade fever (around 100) for the last several days. I don't know if they are connected are not -- and I really hate to say this -- but it's gotten to the point where I do not want to go to the dr -- I'm dr'd out for a while!
I read the symptoms of infections & they include smelly discharge -- but I don't think they meant period discharge -- a fever, and abdominal pain -- well, as all of you know -- when DON'T we have abdominal pain?
So -- I know no one can give advice, but have any of you been through this?
Thank you in advance! Just the thought of calling the dr's office, being on hold forever, trying to make an appt this week, going over there, waiting, blah, blah, blah -- it's too much for me to deal with right now.
Thank you so much!

Hi Karen, it sounds like you have an infection, caused by the IUD. Your doc. will probably remove it immediately, which is too bad. My mom and my sister have both had infections with IUD. I'm going to try the Mirena IUD, but probably not until later in the fall as I'm doing a lot of travelling this summer. From what I've read on this site, it sounds like it takes a while for it to settle down and also there's the risk of infection. Let us know what the dr. said. Good luck.
