Hi there,
3 months ago I had a laparoscopy and the doctors found level 3 endometriosis. Unfortunately the operative laparoscopy took almost 2 hrs (instead of the expected 30mins) and the doc was unable to get all the endo. Fortunately for me, my tubes are still patent, but the doc advised that my tubes and ovaries have massive and extended adhesions (what ever that means). I recovered well and experienced only minor pain in the month after the surgery.
Since the surgery I have tried to keep to the endo diet and have eliminated a lot of crap from my diet. I also saw a naturopath; she suggested to eliminate sugar, white flour, yeast, hormone induced food and to exercise and try and lose a little weight. I have been taking a herbal muscle relaxant for the pain, but nothing seems to help.
However, 3 months after surgery the pain is worse than ever. I keep feeling a stabbing pain in my abdomen and am generally feeling really poorly 3 out of 4 weeks of my cycle. My stomach is so bloated most days I look like I’m 4months pregnant, and in the last month I have been exhausted all the time. Even tho I changed my diet quite drastically and am obviously eating a hell of a lot better and exercising, I cant seem to lose any weight (I weigh 67kg), or get any pain relief. I am trying my best to do all the right things, but its not working.
I have an appointment with a endo specialist gyno tomorrow for a second opinion as my gyno who performed the surgery recommends a course of Zoladex. I am also nervous about the side effects, I don’t want to go down such a drastic path of treatment if I have any other options. Has anyone had experience with this drug or something similar? Or any suggestions on how to manage the pain??? Or treatment???
