Ok..I had my pre-op oppointment today... I went in and had the weight and blood pressure done. My blood pressure is abnormally high for my age! Then my gyn listened to my lungs and heart... and found that I have an irregular heart beat... he thinks it's a heart murmur. He says that instead of going "thump-thump....thump-thump" my heart is going "thump-WHOOSH-thump....thump-WOOSH-thump". And I had to rush home and BEG my Primary Care Doctor to squeeze me in tomorrow morning so he can check my heart. STUPID HEART! The gyn thinks my valve is narrow or leaking. This sucks. One problem after another... and my throat has been getting sore. Hopefully I don't catch cold before surgery... I just want to get this over with pain free... has anyone ever had a murmur and had it effect their surgery?

My friend has a leaky tricuspid valve (I think that is what she said.). Basically, she is fine. Just has to have prophylactic antibiotics before dental work or surgery. I know it sounds scary, but try not to stress out. A lot of heart murmurs like that are pretty mild. The blood pressure, though. You should probably also ask to see a dietitian. You can really cut back your blood pressure with a healthy diet.

I went through a stay two years agoo when I was passing out al the time and the doctor said my heart sounded all crazy and not right like your thump whooosh thump, I was freaking out like you are and all "Oh my Gosh this is the last thing I need, heart please dont fail me now." It turns out I was just growing too quickly for my heart to keep up and it was straining abit which is also why I was passing out. Everythings fine now! It can be really scary when doctors start talking about things that are wrong with your heart but there are soooooo many medicines out there today to help heart conditions you'd be amazed!! Head up! I hope things sort themselves out.

I has the doctors appointment this morning to check out the heart... he had me sit up/lay down... moved the stethoscope all around lol...and then he came to the conclusion that it's too serious and constant to just wave... so I have an echocardiogram on monday morning... the day before surgery lol. I personally don't think it's a big deal... but they are just being really thourough before my surgery making sure that everything is going to be perfect.

*hugs* I understand this totally! I have mitral valve prolapse, which is like a "severe" heart murmur. it's not dangerous, but I have to be careful about being too hot, or over exerting myself. I also have a thin chest cavity, which makes it so I can FEEL the odd "drum solo" of a heartbeat that I have. LOL!
