My Dr. has prescribed me hydrocodone for when the pain is real bad. Has anyone else been on narcotics for treatment of pain? Also I was thinking of trying that new product Menastil. Has anyone ever tried that?

Hi, Shelly. I have a prescription of hydrocodone both for cramps and for migraines (when my other migraine medicine doesn't work). I am not familiar with Menastil, though. What is it? Is it new?

i take vicodin too but i have used it so much its not really effective for the bad pain days so i take percacet or norco
be careful though these drugs can be addicting
i was told that vicodin is actually like small doses of heroin mixed with tylenol (please do your reaserch on that)
i think thats why these pills are addicting but sometimes when your in so much pain what else can you do, i also apply heat to my tummy that helps

Pain medication are not addictive if you are in pain. They are addictive when you take them and you aren't really in pain, while in pain a pain med does its job and you won't get addicted.
I don't take anything as I'm always afraid to be too out of it to take care of my 3 year old. But if your pain is bad you shoudl take something if it makes you feel better.

I also take hydocodone and oxycodone most of the time for me it doesn't seem to work very well i was also told these are not good for your liver but it is all I can take and most of the time doesn't work to well expecially on my bad days. Does the combunox help with migraines? At this point I think id try anything to help resolve the pain.

I'm taking Darvocet every four hours until my surgery in a couple weeks. It's making the pain bearable, but I still can't stand upright sometimes.

I have Ultram and Tylenol 3. I have to argue with them practically to give me anything stronger than a motrin. Matter of fact the Tylenol 3 is only because of my surgery, and she was going to send me home with NO pain meds, just the one I already have at home...ultram. Which is an NSAID+ something else, so it (supposedly) works like a narcotic. My experience is that it doesnt work that well on me. The reason that is, is because its a NSAID and they work best if built up in your system. I didnt know that pain killers were only addictive if you are not in pain and taking them. Geeze now that makes me wonder what these docs are really thinking!

Im still hording my last 5 pills(500mg vic's) from the ONE prescription my ob would allow(i got the pres. 1 mo. ago) but the pain gets so horrible and i dont understand why they wont give me a chronic perscription.. i even showed my doc my amnt. of pills so hed kno I wasnt taking them to get high, my docs just keep telling me to get prego or have a hysterectomy, ive had 2 dif. oppinions and they both said the same thing, should i keep looking for a new doc, Im not wanting to go thru the process of having a new doc again, butnot sure if it wouldnt be helpful, any advice

Hi, bad19. Just flat-out tell your docs that you are 19, in school, and having a baby isn't an option--when it won't cure endo (just a temporarily relief--and even then not in 100% of cases)...and pose the question to the doc. about how he/she expects you to handle a crying baby AND endo pain!
I guess just explain to the doc. that you have a right to pain relief, and since having a baby isn't an option, you're seeking a referral to another doctor who will take your pain seriously. (I read your post in the teen section to know it isn't an option.)

Hi I hope it's ok for me to repost what i just wrote under the Ultram thread? I have been on and off Ultram and Hydrocodone for my chronic daily headaches. Now that my periods are getting worse every month, my gyn put me on Ultram....120.....w/ 2 refills. Here is what i wrote on the Ultram thread....
Hi I'm new here, but i've been lurking. I take Ultram and i love it. It helps my horrible cramping and my headaches alot. I haven't been diagnosed w/ endo yet, but i have alot of the symptoms. My doctors are finally ready to start testing for it. I have my next gyn appt w/ a new gyn on Jan 10th. I hope i can get some help soon. I'm taking Ultram right now, but my primary care doesn't want me to stay on it after the next prescription which lasts for a month. I hate that. Cuz it helps me, but he says it's so addicting, he doesn't want me to stay on it. I really would like to get some advice, how are you all able to get pain meds that work....like Ultram, Vicodin, or Percocet on a regular basis? My primary is a young doctor....about my age.....he is a super nice guy....but he isn't a fan of narcotics for chronic pain. I tell him it's the only thing that makes me able to "function". It takes the edge of the pain, doesn't take it all away. But i have 3 little kids and laying in pain all day isn't an option for me. But i don't know what else to do. More than anything, i would like to be able to get a regular prescription for my chronic daily horrible pain and not wonder day after day if this will be last prescription. Any advice?

Hi, ihurt. In the future, instead of copy/pasting, just try to put only the relevant info so people don't read the exact same thing in 2 places. Posting duplicate posts is actually against the rules of the forum, so try to just tailor the posts to fit the thread. As far as getting the pain meds I need, I just tell my gynecologist that I need a refill. He is pretty much the only one who proscribes the narcotics for me for cramps, so he keeps tabs on how often I request refills. It's pretty obvious that I'm not abusing them. A bottle of 30 lasts me quite a while. Not like Rush Limbaugh and taking 30-some a day!

So sorry about the duplicate post. Man, i'm not off to a good start here am i? Again i really am sorry. Just not feeling well and drugged up so i'm not really with it. As far as your meds, does your gyn give you refills? My primary care doesn't give me refills on narcotics, so i have to ask each time. And i feel like a druggie asking so much. I also don't get much at a time at all. I'm talking like for vicodin, he only gives me 4 at a time. And for Tyelnol #3 this time, he gave me 16, but that was stretching it for him. He really doesn't like giving narcotics. But i'm serious when i say that tyelenol and motrin don't even begin to touch the pain!

i have a script for percocet. it's 325mg, i think. i only take half of one at a time, as i work with machinery. i found that therma-care heat wraps for menstrual cramps bring me great relief as well. as far as narcotics, nothing else but the percocet touches the pain.
