Some of you know my story with the laparascopic surgery, 6 months of meds, etc.etc...none of it worked...or so I thought? Im really not even sure where to begin. I finished up treatment in March, round of Aygestin and Letrozole. As soon as I quit taking it, my cramps and bleeding came back with a vengeance! By April my doctor didnt feel he could do anything else for me and recommended I go to this place
www.pelvicpainkentucky.com/
To see a Dr. McQuady who specializes in Female pelvic pain. At first I was skeptical, having just been through surgery and treatment, I didnt want to see another doctor and go through a bunch more crap that doesnt work. My first appt. was on the 7th of may. I saw a nurse practioner first who asked me a bunch of questions about my health and periods. She asked me about my bladder and did I feel I ever have any problems with it, and I said yes I feel like I have to pee all the time. Later she did short exam even though I was still on my period at the time...Omigod...she touched my bladder and I thought I was going to jump off that table in agony! With my response to what little she did, a series of tests were scheduled the next week to test my bladder for Interstitial Cystitis. There were a couple of other tests she did that day that may have determined a pelvic floor dysfunction as well. I got a call a couple of days later and was told that I had a UTI and they called me in some antibiotics. I was in so much pain with my period the week prior that I didnt know I had a bladder infection.
I went back on the 16th, and I had an ultrasound, a vaginal ultrasound, a potassium test to verify IC, and in the end I had physical therapy. I do for sure have the IC, but no fibroids or cysts on my ovaries....but you cant tell with an ultrasound what the endo is doing. And actually, they havent even addressed the endo yet! I go back on the 4th to finally see the Doctor, and hopefully show him my pics of before and after the surgery.
They gave me what is called a Heparin Cocktail, inserted into my bladder. A mixture of steroids and painkiller to help with my bladder/IC. I am to get those for about 6 weeks, or I can take meds...but I really dont want to do that right now. I have been told that IC can really get aggrivated during your period and make everything worse. The process has been very thorough and intersting at the same time.
Since then, I have been doing a lot of research on my diet vs. endo, and also the IC. The week before I started my period this time I stopped any soda drinks, Diet Mt. Dew, Coke...etc. Im trying hard to drink a lot of water, and as a treat drink...Raspberry white tea. (Although, Im not sure its good for me...caffeine and all). I have cut out dairy, and trying hard not to give into my chocolate cravings too much. Im afraid to say it too soon...as its only the 3rd or 4th day...I have not had that much bad pain or bleeding! Is it the Heparin cocktail? My diet change, what little Ive done? My last several periods before and after the surgery have been so bad...I would contemplate going to the hospital. Last month I spent 3 hours on the bathroom floor, from either having to go to the bathroom with painful bowel movements or having to throw up from the pain. I still took 2 days off from work to deal with whatever comes up...but so far so good??? I feel pretty good...Im still weak you know...tired feeling. I have slight cramps..but nothing I cant handle. Ive only had to take half of a Loratab, vs. having to live off Darvocets and Loratabs at the beginning of the month. And the bleeding hasnt been that terrible. Ive been able to change my tampon maybe every 3-4 hours compared to every 30 min. - an hour.
I really thought I was hopeless....I also said a prayer this time....is God listening?
