just curious. iam on day 10 of my cycle, coming up to ovulation but not for about 4 days or so. anyway, i have since yesterday the feeling of me having my period, and the last few months, i have been having period like pain in the weeks before my period, during ovulation, after, during the period, then a brief time of nothing, though this time my bladder has hurt, but now it's much more menstral like. in my belly, also in my back, and then it starts going into the legs, but as the time grows nearer it will get worse.
i don't know if this is endo like pain, or if the pain differs from feeling like you have your period at other times of the month, then your period, or if it's totally different, still trying to figure out if i def have this or not. i know, impossible to say w/o a lap, but my fear of the lap forces me to try, hoping it's something else, and not so bad.
hugs, michelle

Hi, Michelle. Are you referring to ovulation pain? If you are referring to period pain, please search and post on the already existing threads. I do get some "menstrual-like cramps" during ovulation, but I also have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). I've heard that some women who have pain during ovulation can actually have endo on their ovaries, which again, you know you won't know without having that lap. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be able to help you much more asking questions to avoid a lap... We can't really give you any more clues than what we already have. I'm sorry .

I have always had pain during ovulation, It is followed by the cervical mucous from ovulation. Mine is a stabbing pain not a cramping pain.

hi michelle. i am not a doctor but my pain starts with my 10th day and lasts through my period. i get only a few days of relief a month. depending on which side i am ovulating, the pain differs. my left ovary looks horrible but i have less pain than when i ovulate on my right. and yes, my pain goes right through to my back and down my leg. i have to take percocet for the pain. it's not exactly like mens. cramps though.

normad- that is what is happening here. i started getting some O like pains on cd 8 this month, so i thought i would O early, and now at cd13, it's still there and iam nauesous, but i didn't get a positive test yet. the last few months i have noticed very few days of feeling w/o anything, even if it's not real PAIN, that effects my daily routine, it's some annoyance in my gut. most of my pains feel dull achey, and some form of menstral like, eventhough it's hard to explain. nothing is worse then leading up to, and then the first coupld days of the period though.

iam taking a darvocet in the mornings like 20 days out of the month, even though at some times it doesn't help much. i never take the recommended daily dose. i'd be zonked. i never was a pill popper, i dealt with migranes w/o anything but eigther iam weaker now, or it's just worse, but i do function, so i guess iam waiting foolishly to be incapacitated to take action witht he lap, so i KNOW i have endo and not something else. i wish it were something they could see on u/s always. iam sorry for what you go through. hugs, michelle

before i had even decided on getting a lap. done, i was waiting until my next gyn. appt. to see my options, and i started getting a terrible constant, pain on my lower right side. it extends over to my hip bone, straight through my back and down my leg, as i explained earlier. and i was sooo sick to my stomach as well. i went straight away to my g.p. i thought it was my appendix. or at least an intestinal problem. he said it was my ovary but had never heard of the extension of pain to other areas. like the day after, i went to my gyn. and they did a t.v.u. (my third of the year). it showed a cyst on my right ovary. i was a few days beyond ovulating but they said sometimes it takes time for total absorption into the surrounding tissues. i have that awful pain today, and i am nowhere near ovulating. i am on lupron and i don't know if that screws things up, but according to my calculations i am not even close. i can sympathize michelle. i hope you get an answer and some relief.

You shouldn't be ovulating on lupron from what I've read. Its a chemically induced menopause so your ovaries should be in sleep mode.

janet, i just read from endofacts.com that you can still get pregnant while on lupron because you can still ovulate. i don't understand it all. i would just like the pain to go away.

weird, how can it be suppressing your ovaries and still get pregnant. I wonder if thats the instances where the drug doesn't work for you or something. I mean if they are supressed you shoudln't ovulate, and I wouldn't think you would have a hospitable uterus without the cycle hormones going on. Weird.

i went to my gyn. and they did a t.v.u. While it is possible to ovulate while on Lupron, if the doses are given correctly, you probably aren't ovulating--do you take your temps to see? I am wondering if you maybe had a huge ovarian cyst to begin with and the Lupron is actually shrinking it to the size that was seen the other day. If you were a few days beyond ovulating, there shouldn't have been a cyst-- there should have only been the corpus luteum. The "cyst" would have ruptured--ovulation--and the egg would have been either somewhere in your tubes awaiting fertilization or making its way to the uterus, either implanting after being fertilized or hanging around waiting to be flushed out w/ your menstrual flow. Here is a collection of ultrasounds during a normal ovulatory cycle. A. Initial phase of the cycle B. day 10th C. Day 12th D. Post ovulation follicle (corpus luteum) www.clinicasantamaria.net/images/SFE.jpgAlso, from what I have read Lupron is even used by fertility clinics preparing patients to undergo IVF as an ovulation/LH (lutenizing hormone) surge suppressant so that the eggs aren't released until they are matured (by giving follicle stimulating hormone). This means that fertility clinics are using Lupron to prevent/delay ovulation.
