Hello everyone, For a few weeks now, I have been experiencing very sharp pains, several times a day, deep in my shoulder joints. I've noticed it is happening more on my right side, (always had more endo problems on the right). It is an excruciating, 4-5 second pain that sort of takes my breath away for a second. Thank God it's short as I could not handle it for much longer than that. It is not related to the use of my arms at all, as I can be sitting quietly and not even moving when it happens. This is new for me, and I am interested in knowing if anyone else has had this issue. Was just reading about someones hip pain, and yes, I have that to at times. Thanks in advance for your answers. Wendy

Hmm, I've never had that (except right after my surgery, but I trust you'd know if it was that). It's very unlikely that endometriosis would cause pain in your shoulder, but not impossible. Does the pain get worse near your period? That would be an indication of whether there is a connection.

I wish I could tell if it was near my period, but I am so irregular lately, that I have no idea. It's also fairly new. (only going on for a few weeks) I was thinking it may be a radiated type pain, as I have no injury to my shoulders, and it is not related to movement, overuse, etc. Also the fact that it is worse on the right shoulder, and the endo pain is much worse on my right side. Just thinking that it may be radiating to my shoulders. Just a thought........... As if we don't hurt enough! lol.......gotta laugh!

My husband had a problem with his shoulder hurting and couldn't figure out why. He went to the doc. and they did a couple tests and an x-ray. He had not overused it ...or used it at all, for that matter. It wound up that he was flipping over on his side weird in the middle of the night, and he had put strain on the muscle after all, during his sleep.

Hi I have been diagnosed with Endo phase IV (severe) and I have endo in my diaphram. This cause sometimes intense pain on my righ shoulder. My doctor has confirmed that this is caused as a referall pain from the endo located on my diaphram.

Thanks Apple! I also have stage 4, and had a feeling this was related. Is your pain swift and intense? Mine takes my breath away for a second! Thank you for letting me know that I'm not crazy! W

Yes my pain sometimes gets quite intense and it is worst when I lay down (I feel like stabbing pain). I can not lay dawn on my right side when the pain is quite bad (sometimes is almost impossible to me to sleep). I had some massage and that has helped some how but the pain comes back since is referred pain. If it gets really bad my ear and shoulder also hurt. Last year the doctor put me on zoladex, I ended up in the hospital because of the side effects, the pain on my back and shoulder got so bad that I have to sleep sitting down and they gave me morphine, it was an awful time....but as soon I stopped the medication I was better.... Anyway I made some changes in my diet and took the natural approach and I am been able to manage my endometriosis better, but still I am fighting and sometimes I get these pains back again, like my shoulder, my hip, my legs, my stomach (intestines),... I believe that yoga has helped as well but the placed I was going closed so I stop yoga.

Wow, I haven't had elbow pain on that side, but I HAVE felt it in my ear! It's such a sharp pain that I just tingle afterwards. What natural remedies have you used for this? I feel like the last thing I want is another pill to take, but if I could settle this pain down to a tolerable level, it would be great! Thanks again!

mmm...Well, is hard to say what particular natural remedy help since I've seen a couple of acupuncture and naturopathic doctors since last year and they gave a bunch of different supplements and herbs. Also I believe the acupuncture itself help with this pain, since when a couple of years was quite bad and they sent me to physiotherapy (at that time I was not diagnosed with endo as yet) and was not having any effect on the pain and decided to see a acupuncturist and then the pain got all better... I am still getting acupuncture and I believe that is what is helping some how. Also changes in my diet. Some of the supplements that I been taking are calcium, evening primrose oil, vitamin A, magnesium, selenium. My Chinese doctor is treating me with a number of different herbs and they change…some of them are yam cream, blood tonic, maca, royal jelly and other Chinese staff...but each case is particular and he treats with different herbs. Also a heating patch or castor oil patch may help in your case as well (also if could do some light exercises like yoga, tai chi, or just relaxation or if it is possible for you to consult and acupuncturist, but make sure that he/she has experience and credentials). With Natural approach you will see results probably in the long run that taking a pain killer but you will not be hidden the pain you will be treating and hopefully will get much better and gone at some point. Sorry if am not been a big help... for me still a "try" process, especially with this referred pains… Hope this info help you some how.

Thank you Apple for the update. My shoulder pain is still there, but not as severe. (thankfully) I am sorry you are still in so much pain. I am actually now scheduled for a total abdominal hysterectomy on 11-21. I know this is not a cure, but I am looking forward to some pain relief. Take care.
