Im not sure if there is a thread on this already, my period ended about three days ago, and my back is absolutely killing me today! Its only on my left side, in my kidney/hip area. I dont know if its endo related. I know we all experience pains in ever nook and cranny of our bodies, but while sitting with the heating pad i began to think. I have always had "bad" back pains. I have also been told that my last two vertabrae are so close that they look as if they want to fuse together. grrr, i havent been in any serious accidents of any kind or had a serious spinal injury. My pain today is only on my left side, i have no shooting pains up and down my spine or anything. I know when i had my last Lap, the doc found a large amount of scar tissue, do you think it could be coming back and that is what is causing this pain?? I just want to have ONE day where i don't feel like something is wrong with me. Just one would be nice. Does this happen to anyone else?

Hello this is jessa I know how you feel its really hard to feel like $%#@ everyday. IF your DR. is not helping you find someone who can I know its easier said then done...We just have to belive it will get better someday. The bathtub helps me all the time. It also sounds like there might be something else going on I would go to your regular DR. and tell them they have got to help you.. I know when my Endo. acts up I feel like I have the Flu. I get very upset too, Its hard. xoxoxoxsorry jessa you can IM me if you want to talk sjcookies32

I get wicked lower back pain all the time...sometimes near my tailbone, sometimes near my kidney. I suggest being tested for a bladder infection (just in case). Fused vertebrae is something my family gets (it's hereditary), so get that checked as well. Physio can sometimes help it (but mostly it's pain management---my dad and aunt both have it).

I also have unbelievable back pain. It seems to wrap around my sides into my front then down my legs. I've recently had an ultrasound done on both kidneys to rule out stones or any other infections to relate the pain to. Now I truly believe its the endo. I just wonder whether they can actually get up and around there during a lap. I'm afraid that once I get one done they may not see it and this back pain will never stop. Its to the point that nothing helps, massage, hot water bottle, pain meds, stretching... I sometimes wish that I could be the one telling them during surgery where to look and what to do!!! Or that maybe there was some other way to really really find it!!! I know thats just wishful thinking... reality is that this disease will always cause pain.

I also get bad backpains. During my last lap I found out that my uterus was leaning and it was pushin on my back. So that could have been part of the reason. But during my period I get it really bad to where I feel like I can't move.

I'm not sure if I have it due to endo but the last few days, just after i took a flight on a plane, I have been woken twice with intense back pain which seems to radiate from the left dimple (above my bottom) on my back, and through to the front left (usual pain spot) and my left hip down my leg. It's at best, annoying as hell! I have also had pain around my kidney before but they are both healthy. I totally sympathise now with grumpy people who have bad backs! xx

Welcome to the club of unexplained back/flank pain! I've been having flank pain for over a month now. 3 urine tests that were normal 1 ultrasound which showed an enlarged renal pelvis. 1 ct scan with contrast materiel which was normal, and I am currently waiting for the results of my second ultrasound. The pain never goes away. Pain meds help but it is temporary. I found out that endo can affect the kidneys. It is rare but not unheard of. When I finally get to see my doctor I'm going to ask if a lap can see your kidneys. Best of luck ladies! Keep searching I know I will!!!!!

I have back pain on and off. Somedays it feels like I am getting kicked on my left side near the kidney/hip area. I also get it in my middle back from being hunched over from cramps from sitting at work.
There are times that I have to use 2 heating pads. One for my back pain and one for cramps on my pelvis area...or I just throw myself into a hot bath. I have been trying to walk everyday and strectch that seems to help.

Do you find that the hotbath only works for as long as you are in the tub?? I find that the stretching and stuff works for a very very short time. Its also the back pain that is preventing me from sleeping. That pain just makes me so grumpy! Nothing seems to work and I just end up getting more and more frustrated with it.

I find that hot bath works the same way for me. Great in the bath and crappy out of the bath. So far the only thing that has helped is Tylenol 3's, But the problem with those is 4 hours after taking them I'm back to square one again. I've missed tons of work because of this flank pain. I have a very active job and I have to be on the ball at work. The Tylenol 3's make me very drowsy and I can't be like that at work, so I take extra strength Advil grit my teeth and try to do my job. Most days I don't make it in to work. It sucks I don't get paid sick time and have bills to pay!!!!

As much as thats all well and good, I'm still squirming at home as much as I was at work. I just really wish it would go away.

The bath, heating pad only works when I am in the tub or using the heating pad. I am on the heating pad pretty much all day. I have one plugged in at work and use it all day then I go home and on the heating pad again.
I found that if I walk in the mornings I feel good for a few hours after.....then pain med. The first 10 mins of walking are terrible but then I get warmed up and feel pretty good.
Sorry Angela...I understand just wanting it to go away. It starts to really depress me also. Try to take care of yourself body and mind...I know it is hard.

It just feels like the pain is just too deep to have any massage, hot water bottle, heating pad any of that penetrate it. The walking sounds like a good idea though?? The only thing with that is I wonder if I should be that active (I'm supposed to be on bed rest so I don't risk ruptering the huge cyst I have in there). I know that for a while there when I was walking to work (only a 10 minute walk or so) I would feel the pain go all the way up my between my shoulders and into my legs... it would take a while for that to go away even once I've sat down. I am really starting to wonder whether there might be something else going on in my back. I've never been injured or anything... maybe theres endo on the sciatic nerve like so many people talk about? One thing is forsure, I won't be getting any answers for another couple months...
After reading how often you use the heating pad, maybe its worth trying it! If anything atleast it will be nice to snuggle on when its really cold outside!! hahaha!

It hurts to bad to have a massage...I cannot even let my hubby rub me down. Your back pain could be because you are in pain. Do you slouch over because of the cramps??? I know I do and that cause me upper back pain. Your back is your core and if anything else is out of wack your back takes the most pressure.
Sorry about the bed rest...that must be rough. I am on the heat pad most of the day and it helps. And it does warm things up!!! Canada huh??? Stop sending your cold air down here would ya!!!!
I know it is hard but try to keep your spirits up!!!
