I am from Greece, 32 years old and i was recently diagnosed with endo. For about 1 year i was told i had IBS and that i should see a shrink. That was really hard.....every one thought i was just making things up. Having a lap is not really an option here in Greece, don't know why exactly, so my doctor put me on visanne. It's been 5 weeks now, i am pain free, but i'm not feeling too good and i have something like a light period. Maybe i need some more time to get used to the idea......don't know exactly. My boyfriend is very very supportive, but i just feel so guilty that i can't be better for him and that we can't have sex. Last year i was healthy and my body was strong, and now it's not....

Welcome, Vaso! I am pretty new to endometriosis and this board myself. I think you have made an important first step by joining this group and becoming more informed. It's interesting that they are so resistant to performing a lap there, since it's difficult to diagnose endometriosis without actually visualizing it during a lap. Try not to feel guilty about how you are feeling - you cannot help how you feel, so you are not choosing to not be intimate with your boyfriend for selfish reasons. It is wonderful that he is so supportive. I guess I would recommend just communicating with him about how you feel and maybe finding alternate ways of fulfilling his needs that do not cause you pain.

Hello Rachelj, i'm really glad too i found this group. There are many surgeons in greece that can perform a simple lap, but when it comes to endo, we don't have that many skilled surgeons to remove the endo from the bowel or the bladder. Based on the findings of my c/t i probably have in the bowel as well. Maybe that's why having a lap is not the first option here in greece. They put you on hormonal treatment and i don't know what happens next....i'm about to find out i think ^_^

Welcome to the board! Unfortunately, the stats say it takes (on average) about 9-10 years for a woman to get an endo diagnosis. Very frustrating. Infuriating, actually!
We have loads of threads and info about sex and pain and avoidance with lots of good ideas. It sucks that the pain can take away from pleasure. I agree with Rachel - please be open with your partner. And please don't make assumptions about his needs. Really. Be honest, tell him your fears and concerns, and have an open, honest conversation about it. Much better to go that route than to make up your mind for him in your head (which I am TOTALLY guilty of doing, by the way!).
Glad you found us!
