Ok so bear w/ me, i'm a little overwhelmed, but i'll be ok. My new gyn today was absolutley great. She is convinced that i have endo and is almost positive i have adenomyosis. I have never heard of that word!!! Do any of you have that too? I have an ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday and i have to have a lap done very soon. She also talked about maybe having to evenutally have a hystorectomy. She says my symptoms are very severe. I told her that i always thought pain w/ your period was normal till i saw this site! I told her that i think alot of people think that. She said it's ok to have to take a motrin during your period. But having pain bad enough to need narcotics along w/ all of the other symptoms is NOT normal. She said i have all the classic symptoms of endo and adenomyosis. Like some of you, i am actually scared that they won't find any endo there. I want a diagnosis for this horrible pain!!!!!!!!!! Just an update from me. I love this site, even though i'm mostly a lurker!

I'm glad you found a good gynecologist! I don't know if anyone on here is known to have adenomyosis, but it's pretty common with endometriosis and also hard to diagnose so someone may have it and not know it! The good news is that if you do have adenomyosis you should notice a real reduction in symptoms if you have a hysterectomy in the future. A lot of women with endometriosis have hysterectomies thinking it's a cure and find their symptoms remain, since the uterus doesn't cause the problem. Adenomyosis, at least, is curable through hysterectomy so you'll know for sure that whichever symptoms are caused by that would leave. For some of us even the most drastic measures might not help!

Thank u for writing back. It's the middle of the night and i'm still achey and yucky. I'm barely bleeding at all today and i'm still supposed to be having my period. Do u know what's up w/ that? I mean i'm having alot of pain, cramping and throbbing etc. My back, hips, stomach, etc. But no blood right now which is unusal for me lately. The pain seems worse and lasting longer every month.

I know how you feel about wanting a diagnosis. People think you are being wierd when you atlk about wanting to have endo...they just don'tget that any confirmation of something being "wrong" is better than a mystery illness. We don't want to be sick. What we want it to have proof and not feel bad about feeling sick. I'm glad you have a Dr. you trust. Many people talk about battles with Drs who don't listen. Stay positive. Good luck on your ultasound. Is it a regular ultrasound or an internal? I had to have both before my Dr. did a lap.
