I thought I would post here that the NIH is currently doing a study on "Neural Immune Mechanisms and Genetic Influences on Chronic Pelvic Pain in Women with Endometriosis." They are currently recruiting participants. I sent an email indicating that I might be interested and they sent me an email back. I have a number to call to answer questions. If anyone else is interested I can provide the NIH protocol number.

What is it a trial of medications?

It doesn't appear to include any medications. It looks like a lot of blood draws to monitor hormone levels. They'll map participants DNA. Participants will keep a pain journal. And then at the end they'll do a laparoscopy and excise any endo.

If you google NIH protocol number 04-CH-0056 the "consent to participate" form comes up. It's run by the endometriosis expert at NIH, Pamela Stratton M.D. It looks like they are examining the relationship between sex hormones, immune chemicals, and pain related genes affect pelvic pain. The goal is to better understand pelvic pain and identify better medical approaches to treat it.
