Hi all.
A short history of myself:
I'm 22 years old and I was diagnosed with PCOS at age 13 after having one continuous period since age 11 (it's a LOOOONG story). I was put on the pill to regulate my period. At age 15 I had a laparoscopy and was diagnosed with stage 1 endometriosis.
Since about age 16-17 I've been on the same pill continuously to treat the endometriosis. Prior to being diagnosed with endo I was allowed to stop the pill each month to get a period. Since I've been on the continuous pill (for about six years now) I've had this constant cycle of dark discharge followed by breakthrough bleeding.
On days 1-9 of my pack I have normal clear - white - very light yellow discharge. On day 10 of my pack I begin to get a light brown to a dark brown discharge with a somewhat bloody smell to it. That will usually continue for about a week and then I'll start to lightly bleed. That will clear up in 1-2 days and then I'll be back to brown discharge followed by clear - white discharge.
On numerous occasions in the past I've gone off the pill and given myself a full-blown period in the hopes that it will regulate things, but it never has. I take the pill at the same exact time every day.
I had a pelvic exam and pap smear a few months ago and she said that everything looked normal and the smear showed no abnormal cells, so my problem must be either uterine or hormonal instead of vaginal or cervical.
Does anybody else have this problem? Might this be more related to the PCOS in which case I'm on the wrong website?
Thanks for your help.

If you're having a lot of spotting while on the pill, you might need to find a different formula. Have you talked to your doctor about switching it up?

Hi!
I also take the pill continual and have to be VERY consistent on when I take it, like literally, down to 5 minutes on the spot. If I take it later than that, I'll get breakthru. I never take a break and just work thru any breakthru that I do get. I find that I'm good for about 3-4 months adn then I'll get a spell of about 1.5 weeks where I'll have breakthru, some minor cramping and this disgusting thick snot ball type discharge that is expelled, it's beyond disgusting IMO. Sorry, we talk about everything here so sorry if that was gross. Anyways, you should get the OK from your doctor but if you google ibuprofen for breakthru bleeding, it says you should take 6-8 per day. I do this, usually for 3-5 days, I take the full 8 breaking it up thru the day and that helps to stop the breakthru. Works like a charm for me all the time but again, get your doctors OK first. Sometimes, you do need to change your pill to a slightly higher dose or different hormone combo, thankfully, I haven't had to do this.
Hope this helps!
