So its been months (January) since my Lap. I've posted on here about my urinary issues, which are still here in full force unfortunately, but I just wanted to hear some more input about post surgery. My urologist has ruled out IC as a source of my bladder/abdominal pain, and has required me to see a psych before he'll do anything else really. In the mean time I'm stuck dealing with daily abdominal cramping and pain thats just as bad as before the surgery. Plus the good ol' stabbing pain has started again on my left side, so I wouldn't be surprised if my endo is back or my shaudy doctor missed some. I'm currently waiting for my appointment with a new gyno and hoping a treatment plan for my endo.
Can anyone tell me if this much abdominal pain is the norm after surgery and if it could be related to my bladder trouble? Unfortunately the medical system here makes it possible for doctors to refuse to see me if I've been seeing another specialist, so I can't really seem to get away from my crappy uro.

how did your uro "rule out" IC? What exact test did he use?

I had a cystoscopy with the hydrodistention, and according to him my bladder looked "lovely" but he applied the RIMSO anyway

I remember when he made you see that psych! That made me so angry! I really wish you can get a new doctor because this one just sounds awful. Do you have pain all the time or does it seem to cycle with your periods?

Unfortunately its all the time I've only let myself have one period since my surgery as from what I understand its more beneficial to skip them, so I'm kind of sticking with that until I get into a new gyno that can direct me better. This feels different though, like I get the stabbing I had before on my left side, but now my whole lower abdomin is constantly swollen and sore. I'm wondering if its just muscle damage :S just its frustrating so long after surgery.

Is physical therapy as option? I had that constant pain that nothing would help, except PT.

See the nurse who handles admissions to the psych clinic I'm stuck going to had told me on the phone about PT being a good treatment option, and how the pain could be muscle and scar tissue related. I was in shock that no doctors have suggested this as a solution yet, but I guess my gyno was an ass. I have my first appointment with a new gyno next month, so I'm thinking I'll ask them if I can get a note for PT and hopefully they'll be able to make somewhat of a treatment plan for me.
I'm glad to hear that PT helped you though, that gives me hope that I can find some relief there!

Yes, it is a good treatment option! Surgery can help correct damage to your organs and remove visible tissue, and hormones can sometimes help reduce the pain (I've heard - and experienced - that those of us with daily pain don't get much relief from BC). But, when we're in that much pain, our bodies have to react and minimize the pain in any way it can, and the muscles can be fully engaged all the time, restricting blood flow to our organs that need it most to heal and get better! And as I experienced, they can pull your body out of alignment, making other parts of your body hurt (for me it was my back). If you're willing to try it, I hope you can get a referral!!

Wow I hope you get to try the PT! That would be great and hopefully it would finally give you some relief.

yea that sounds great! I'm sure I can get a referral, it's just I'll have to wait till my appointment. After that nurse mentioned it I was hoping to hear positive things on here. It feels like I'm running out of options for pain treatment right now :S most drugs either do nothing or make me wonky and knock me out. I've pretty much given up on taking pain killers, and I hate using the oxycodone they prescribed, its miserable.

I had thought I was having IC pain and cut out all the suspects from diet, but ended up having the best results from my last surgery. I had endo removed previously from the bladder, but this last time I had some really hard adhesions that seemed to be causing most of the pain. The first month after surgery I was peeing so great I was excited to go to the loo! I think I've had a few more adhesions come back but it's not like before. I had done PT but I think my stuff was just too hard to get to, although it helped with some other issues especially pelvic floor tightness. Keep fighting, I hope you can get a new doc who's not a total twit!
