My lord at first I thought I was pregnant, I stopped my birth control because I started heavy spotting, it went down a bit after I stopped, it was never bad enough for a pad. Here I am, a week later and I was still spotting up until this after noon. The spotting was thick, brown and mucus-y. Now I'm wearing a pad but it has virtually nothing on it and I have been wearing it most of the day, when I pee and I wipe its dark red blood, but it looks like the brown mucus is still there. I know its not clots, my clots look way grosser than that, and darker. The blood does not come out onto that pad, and I did check my cervix in the shower, I know my period cervix very well, its super low and open and it makes it painful to use a tampon, well its high and I almost cant find it. I can only find part of it, like its pulled into the wall of my vagina and tipped toward my pelvis. I have cramps, but while I was spotting I have sharp pains in lower abdomen, like before I had my ovarian cyst removed. I've been having headaches, back pain, fatigue you name it, but those are all symptoms of my anti depressant/anxiety meds so it impossible to know if my body is making me nauseous or high strung.
So now I'm not sure if its just my period, pregnancy or possibly something else like my endometrosis or another cyst or worse, cancer.

Sorry that you are so scared. Anything can happen when you stop birth control? Where were you in your cycle when you stopped? Can you tell us why you are worried about pregnancy? So so sorry that you are scared. Let us know a little more and maybe we can help!

I take jolessa which is a 91 days cycle. I had unprotected sex on week 4 of tray 2, not long after I had unprotected sec I began spotting. Light brown, only showed up when I wiped, so I figured I would wait a few days then see how things panned out, we'll Wednesday of week 1 tray 3 I still was spotting and it was five days after it initially started, and was getting heavier. So I said hey maybe I'm pregnant and the box says to discontinue if you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy. I figured if I stopped and it was just break through bleeding that coincidentally lined up with the time I had unprotected I would just start my period. Well here I am 4 days later, I had brown mucus-y spotting from Wednesday to today accompanied by sharp pains. Later in the day, around dinner, I started getting crampy and I had to go to the bathroom, so I had a panty liner on all day and it was still clean, and when I wiped it was still thick and mucus-y but it was deep red, with the brown mixed in with mucus still. No clots. So I was relived that I started my period, well not long before my first post I went to the bathroom again to find a virtually clean maxi pad and like before it was only red and bloody while wiping, still thick and mucus-y. This is irregular but I figured I'd take a shower and was up and while I was in there I would check my cervix to see if it was in position for my period, it's not. Actually I could only find a small part of it, it's blending in with the walls of my vagina, which is way different, my cervix is always low like I said before, to the point where most times a tampon is painful. It's hours later from my post and things remain the same, but the blood is wiping up better like its getting lighter :/ I'm really confused.

Actually it has lightened significantly I just checked to be sure and it's just a pinkish brown now with only a little bit of mucus.(9-30-2012)
As of this afternoon, (10-1-1012), I have started bleeding again, no clots, still has that brown stringy mucus in it, crampy and I have heart burn, last night I went to be with the worlds worst headache. I feel pretty sh*tty. So I have an appointment tomorrow, I know they probably wont get down there and dirty, but at least they can do blood tests and possibly a urine test to see if its an infection of any kind to rule that out.

Did you have your appointment? I was going to ask if you took a pregnancy test, but hopefully they checked for all that. I wonder if your body is just overcoming the effect of the birth control, I know that happens.

So I went and got a pap done and nothing showed up, my GYN said it sounded like Chlamydia or Gonorrhea but I was disease free like I assured her. SO.... I am lost, the pain is a lot like my endo or the cyst I had a few years ago, but she said nothing seemed wrong Needless to say, I'm still in pain, I'm still bleeding, its been 9 days, and I still have no answers or have any idea what I should do next.

ST, I hope this passes soon... Regarding the positioning of your cervix, it's often very high around ovulation, so now that you're off the pill, that might start to happen. Just an FYI on that.
I'm glad you got things checked out. Did your doc rule out a bacterial infection? If everything else has been ruled it, it may just be your body's way of adjusting to the change in hormones. If it continues, please tell me you'll ask to have your thyroid tested? That can mess with cycles, too, but since your changes are so close to going off the pill, you may have to chalk it up to that for a bit.

So I don't have a bacterial infection, I don't have an STD, they did a smear, I don't have kidney problems I recently had a renal ultrasound. So I went to a different Dr. and they have me set up with blood test and a pelvic ultrasound tomorrow. Hopefully I will get some answers out of that, because I do plan on trying to get pregnant in the near future and I don't want to suffer my whole term.

I haven't heard anything from the Dr. yet, but while I was there I was told I had a tipped uterus! This is very surprising because in '09 when I had my lap done my uterus wasn't tipped. I assume its because of the endometriosis. I also read that can cause a bit of pain, especially when you have to BM, or when you are constipated. I still have to do a blood test this week to look for hormonal changes and other types of infection. I am actually hoping that if all goes well and I just have pain from the tipped uterus that I can actually try and get pregnant ;D on purpose this time, lol.

Sorry about the surprise tipped uterus! It's actually very common, even among women who don't have endo. Though of course endo can cause it. Hope you hear from the ultrasound soon.
Regardless, have you considered temping? We have a whole thread on it, and it is really useful for helping you figure out what might be going on at times like when you have strange bleeding. Also useful for getting pregnant! The girls on the board got me into it and it has been so helpful for me.
