Ok. Sorry if this isn't the right place to post.
I asked to be referred by my family practitioner to an endometriosis specialist. They said they would refer me to a Ob/Gyn. They were wondering if I had one in mind. I don't - I want to see someone who has a lot of experience with endo/ pcos and has an understanding of how diet plays into it.
Too much to ask?
If anyone has some suggestions, I'm in SW Wisconsin. Rochester, MN, Madison, WI, are both within traveling distance. I'm hoping to find someone who "gets it" instead of screwing around with multiple Dr.s visits that get me nowhere.
Thanks in advance! Jaye

I went to Dr. Barbara O'Connell at Meriter Women's Center in Madison. She does surgeries 2-3 days a week, the clinic ONLY sees women with girlie problems (no maternity stuff), has an awesome staff, and was the only one that was willing to give me options after my surgery. I haven't gone back other than a pap since I figured out diet, but gave it a mention and she acknowledged diet has a place for endo management. She was super nice, super helpful, and Greta, one of her PAs, is awesome, too. Mary, not so much in my experience... I heard they added another doctor but I know nothing about him/her. I haven't seen Dr. David Olive but he's a true endo specialist and is involved with the Endo Association in some way or another. I know he's quote in one of their books. However, he's now at the Wisconsin Fertility Institute in Middleton and I don't know if his focus is only fertility. A friend of mine with endo saw him a few years ago when he was with the UW and liked him. She only saw him for a consult, though, and didn't go further with him. I know that's not much, but I hope it helps! (P.S. - if you come to Madison, we're doing lunch.

The one I have heard a lot about is Charles Koh in Milwaukee, not sure if that is far away as I am an ignorant east coaster. He does excision as is one of the folks Dr. Redwine is recommending since he has retired. He seems extremely knowledgable but I'm not sure if you want a surgical opinion or not.

I will look him up. I'm not quite ready for the surgical option, yet. Just doing my homework in case I'm feeling ready for it at the new year (when my new ins. deductible starts ).

Yes, please, look me up when you're in town!!! I had dinner with a few former coworkers last week and one of them knows about my medical issues. She has some of her own. She said she recently went to the Madison Women's Health clinic and loved their approach. I can't vouch for them personally, but might be at least worth looking into. I have no idea how I didn't know this place even existed. www.madisonwomenshealth.com/index.php

Hi. I am not sure if I have the right place to post and I am new to this site. I have recently just had my seventh surgery for endometriosis , uterine polyp, ovarian endometriosis and pelvic endometriosis and uterine fibroids. I am 37 years old and this has been going on for more than 10 years and I am wondering if anyone has any advice. As you all know its very painful and exhausting to deal with all of this on a daily basis. My husband and I haven't been able to have children because of all of the surgeries and after my last surgery on December 28th my doctor said after I heal we have six months that I can be off of birth control and that would be it. A friend of mine recently told me about Dr Redwine in Bend, Oregon and it sounded hopeful since I live in Portland, Oregon and then I saw he recently retired. Does anyone know who he is referring his patients to and can anyone offer any hope of what I should do? This last surgery has really been hard on my body and I am still not able to go back to work. I am hoping to find a doctor who understands more how to help me. Thank you for your time and for all of your information.

asample25- There are some specialists around the country who are very good but the closest to you might be Dr. Cindy Mosbrucker in Tacoma, Washingotn (I think). She is a very good surgeon and good and following up on continuing pain issues that might not be endo, like IC, pelvic floor, etc.

Semicolon, Thank you for your response and for letting me know about Dr. Mosbrucker. I will look into her and hope she has some good options for me. If anyone comes across any specialist in Oregon I would love to hear about them. If you can think of any other helpful suggestions I would love to hear them also, since I am new to this site. Endometriosis feels very lonely since I don't have friends who deal with it or who understand what I go through on a daily basis. Thank you again for your suggestions and support.
