Hey Everybody!
I'm new here and just getting to know the place
Well I have a question, what do you do when you get that craving for something sweet? I bake alot for friends and family and that's something I do for a living so I have a bit of a sweet tooth. My doc banned sugar from my diet thanks to endo and sometimes I just crave sweet stuff. Yesterday I had to force myself not to eat a huge piece of fruit cake. I know I'll only harm my body more but at this point I'm just so frustrated that I can't think straight.

Hi Hattie! Welcome.
You might try eating super clean for a month (Google whole30). Lots of people say that after that they don't crave sweets as much. It's like your taste buds re-set.
Personally, when I crave sweets, I simply go for healthy sweets. Unsweetened fruit, sweet potatoes, etc..
It would be super hard to be around baked goods all the time and be starting these diet changes! But you can do it!!

Quitting sugar is really hard. It's incredibly addictive to our bodies and it's not easy to cut it out. The Whole30 is excellent at stopping the sugar dragon, as I've heard it called, though there are other 2-3 week sugar detox programs.
Now that I'm off sugar, it's so much easier to avoid it because I know exactly how sugar makes me feel when I have it (awful). It's an easy deterrent.

I like the "sugar dragon" lol.
When I got rid of sugar for a long period of time I actually stopped craving it. When I did get sugar cravings I used to eat a handful of golden raisins. They taste extremely sweet. Dehydrated fruit is pretty sweet too. It's not a chocolate bar/candy but for some reason they get rid of the craving.

I got myself some dried cranberries and golden raisiins to help my sugar dragon. I think I'll have to hire a taster so that I don't have to sample my baked goods. I will look into the Whole30 and follow it. I remember stopping sweets for a month but it's certainly tough during that time of the month when your body demands something sweet but I'll have to teach myself to go for healthy options

I do agree with the other ladies though. Making the initial cut is hard, but once you've done it, sweet things taste almost gross, at least they do to me. Americans put SO MUCH sugar in their diets. It's disgusting, once you've trained your palate not to think it's normal.
