Rust (or Jenaya)- did you end up having a resection? Glad you are doing well! Sorry about the IC but with a diagnosis there are interventions to try to feel better now. Sending virtual hugs!

Hi you all! Still posting from the phone because essentially on my back.
So first, the doctor is wonderful. Very patient and kind and knowledgeable. He took a very long time doing the surgery and saved as much of the intestines as he could by patiently excavating and cutting out the deep lesions. He did say that I had very deep endo everywhere--he had to excavate lesions from organs all over the place. I did have several bowel resections, but they were much shorter than I had feared. I think only 1.5 feet overall. I seem to be doing ok. There were also several cysts on both ovaries, several endometrioma all over the place, including lodged against my lung! And I had "obliteration of the culdesac" but he excavated all of that too... All in all, I will have to wait for my postop to know more but it sounds like I should be in a much better place.

Good grief you had it so bad! I don't know how you functioned so long with all of that growing inside! I am so glad you had the surgery because you obviously needed it! Wanna know what scares me about Dr. Belizan? He's reaching retirement age I don't want him to go!!

I know. My husband was actually wondering that there seemed to be no apprentices there. He is not even on the ERC website as someone who does excision, but he excised the hell out of my endo.

Doing much better a couple days out. Already down to not taking the tramadol, which is great, and went for a walk yesterday and this morning.

I love your neighborhood stories. And I love that you have a crush on your doc. I'm glad you're home and off pain killers! How long are you off work?

I am actually really lucky that I work in intl dev, because since I manage offices overseas and since my work group has people telecommuting in from all over the globe on a regular basis, there is a liberal policy on working from home, so I can take it easy next week. I have a lot of stuff I have to do, but most of it I can do from home...so I'll see. I just went on a walk and it kicked my ass. But so nice to get out!

That sounds like a good plan. Promise me that if you have to go into work, you'll get a ride or take a cab??

Away this wkend, but wanted to check on you. Wow, I only lost 9 inches so you have me beat! Take it easy. I found getting up and walking before and after meals helped my bowels keep moving more comfortably. Glad you are up and about!

So it's been a rough few days with healing--getting much better each day, but it is still a process.
However, I just rode my bicycle around the block and it didn't hurt. For the first time in years. I am so f**king happy I am going to ignore the censors in endo-resolved. I know I won't be pain free and that this disease is always a fight, but it it can just be a little easier, that will be huge for me.

I cannot believe you got on a bike today!!! It took me weeks to get back to running (I remember complaining to my PCP at six or seven weeks post op that I was only able to run 2 miles and it was bad, he nearly smacked me). Don't make your doctor have to smack you

I'm tempted to fly to DC and smack you! You had a bowel resection. You could easily have torn things inside by riding on your bike. Please don't hurt yourself. Remember, you only get one chance to heal right!!

I already scolded you on facebook so I'll refrain... but I am glad that you are healing well! Endo really is an uphill battle but it's nice to get a reprieve every so often!
