"Sadly St. Charles Medical Center chose to deny my reapplication for staff privleges. Therefore I will no longer be able to do surgery and have decided to retire. We wish to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and understanding.
Sincerely,
Dr. Redwine and Staff"

Here is the reason why he is forced to retire:
ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUE AFFECTS SCHEDULED SURGERIES
Due to an administrative issue our Medicare participation lapsed a year ago. Dr. Redwine does not see Medicare patients, so we did not pursue Medicare reinstatement. Unknown to us, the 2012 bylaws of St. Charles hospital in Bend require that physicians be empaneled by Medicare to be on the hospital staff; even if they do not see Medicare patients. During the hospital staff reapplication process which began in April, 2012, it eventually came up that Dr. Redwine was not empaneled by Medicare. Therefore the hospital began the process to withdraw Dr. Redwine's privileges in mid-May, with the final action plan emerging only this week. The re-empanelment application process with Medicare is well under way with one more step to complete, an on-site visit. Nonetheless, given the multiple committee steps involved in the hospital reappointment process, the earliest date that hospital privileges will be granted is June 28. We are notifiying patients one by one as their surgery dates are affected. We understand that this is an extreme inconvenience and disappointment and that those affected will be angry and disheartened. Please know that we are doing everything in our power to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Dr. Redwine and Staff"
