I had a pelvic ultrasound today. The tech was great but she would not comment on wether she found anything or not. But I did notice during the exam she was focused on the right side and I kept waiting for her to go to the left and measure but when she finally did it was only for one click? The wierd thing was though... When she had me empty my bladder I came back and started the transvaginal.. She couldnt find my ovaries? She sent me back to empty my bladder again stating that it was still full. .... A total of four times and by the fourth time I couldnt force anything out at all and the other three times before was barely a drip or two of urine. She still said my bladder was pretty full. Does this sound odd? I did get a urine culture a week ago - negative.

Hi!
Perhaps one of our med-smart people can confirm this, but I've always had the understanding that tech's aren't allowed to tell you what they're seeing since they aren't doctors -- they're supposed to go get the MD to talk with you if they see something strange. (Is that right, girls)? So on that note, I don't think it's strange that she was acting that way.
It's possible that she could have been focused on the right side for a number of different reasons. I've had ultrasounds that have turned out completely normal but I was worried that something was wrong because the tech or obgyn seemed partial to a certain spot.
What I'm confused about is the results... did no one talk with you about what they were seeing? When I've had ultrasounds in the past, it's been done by the ob/gyn themselves and they've given me a play-by-play of what they were seeing (or not seeing). What did they say to you?

The tech is not really supposed to say anything about the scan, it is just the doctor. I had to wait for results from the doc at a follow up. Have you talked to your doctor yet?
