I'm going in for my post-operative follow up with my OB/GYN on the 7th to figure out what drug treatment I want to try now that she found endometriosis through my lap.
I had let her know before that regular combination birth control pills are out because of my migraines and a family history of stroke. My question is how the normal progression of medicine works.
I'm fine with trying micronor to start with. I've been on it before and I had very few side effects. But if micronor doesn't help is there a step in between micronor and Lupron? The doctor only mentioned BCPs and Lupron. Where does Aygestin fit in? Would it be worth it to try Aygestin before Lupron?
Thanks for any advice!

Hey, if you have a look at the rest of the Drugs section we have threads on all three drugs!

Thanks for the advice! I've read all of the Aygestin thread and the Micronor thread and almost all of the Lupron thread.
I'm just wondering where Aygestin fits in? Are people typically prescribed Aygestin when birth control pills don't work and they don't want to try Lupron?
I'm looking at Lupron as the nuclear option and I don't know if that is accurate either so I am trying to come up with options that others have tried besides birth control pills.

Hi, I'm on Aygestin right now, and was on micronor for 3 months. Micronor didn't really work for me and made me have almost constant periods, but it has worked ok for others. Aygestin has made me feel better so far, and i'm only taking a half dose. I've only been on it two weeks, so i can't really comment on any side effects or long term effects, except that it makes me really thirsty.
I would not take Lupron EVER. It's a horrible drug that can have permanent side effects, and hasn't helped 99% of people i've talked to. I would try everything possible before touching that stuff.
A lot of people here control their pain through natural medicine and diet, so that's always a thing to try. I will admit that i don't feel like it helps me at all, but some people here have seen drastic improvement with just changing their diet.
Did your doctor excise the endo? If not, i would find a surgeon who specializes in that as my first step.

Oh, also to answer your question, i do think aygestin is prescribed if micronor doesn't work. I'm pretty sure if the micronor had worked, my doctor would have then fitted me with a mirena. My doctor doesn't really believe in prescribing Lupron.
