Has anyone tried taking high doses of vitamins to help with endo? I was looking on a site by Dr. Lark, who suggests taking B-complex, Vit. C & E, etc. I started her regime just a couple of days ago out of desperation. Now that I have found you guys here, I would have asked this question before I started. Thanks for sharing any experiences.

Vitamin C has been a huge help to me. Make sure you take a buffered form. I take 1000mg 3 times daily but in the form of magnesium ascorbate (The ascorbate part is the vitamin C and it has been bind to magnesium to make it better digested) pure ascorbic acid will cause diorrhea if taken in large does so always go for the buffered form. sometimes you can find potassium ascorbate (which is vit C bound with potassium, any buffered forms are better

I take calcium absorbate, works well. I havent gone the super high doses, i think i know the article your talking about. to be honest, i think its the thing thats made the least diff to me, but that doesnt mean it hasnt helped. Vit E is good to take daily, as is vit C, i dont know if the high doses help that much, but it cant hurt. There is alot of good info on vit C, theres a thread on here i started with some links. www.cjlevett.proboards33.com/index.cgi?board=alternative&action=display&thread=1176385137I try to take it with most meals, and i think it does help a little, in the least helps iron absorption, and is going to help keep your immune system healthy. I have started taking it when i get pain, 2g at once, combined with a magnesium cramp bark formula, and sleep level doses of valerian with good effect, reduces my pain quite a bit. The B complex is a very good idea, and has helped me alot, but now i find since im doing so much better that i dont need it all the time, or it interferes with my sleep, but while i was really unwell it was a real big help. Iron is another really important one, you might need a supplement even if ur blood levels are 'normal', the docs wont tell u if its on the lower end of normal, and that will still be enough to make u feel run down. On my last period, i was anaemic due to a stomach bug, and i bled like crazy, once i could eat again, i double dosed my Iron and the bleeding slowed right down within hours.

I take a pre-natal vitamin (we're ttc) with lots of Bs, iron, vitamin C, etc. plus a separate calcium supplement. My health seems to be better, but I don't think it has directly helped my pain. But kb is the expert on this one!

So I had a check-up with my doctor last week. We were talking about Vitamin E. He said studies have shown that regular Vitamin E does nothing! He suggested taking "Unique E". It is extra -high in the total tocopherol complex (beta, delta, gamma). Tocopherol complex is needed for protection against the oxidation of fatty acids and cholesterol, helping to prevent oxidative damage to cell membranes and atherosclerosis. He said its one of the only Vitamin E's to actually work as an anti-inflammatory. Just wanted to spread the word.

Also, has anyone tried B-12 shots? I've been on Prilosec for a long time now and my doctor said that long-term PPI use can decrease your livers ability to absorb B-12. He suggested shots the first month and said it should help with my abdominal pain too.

Good to know about the prolisec thing! I take Nexium and I know that long term use of that can cause a magnesium deficiency. I have one week left on it so hopefully it did its job in healing stomach ulcers. But now I wonder if I have ulcers because of celiac! eeeesh!...

you very well might! I have ulcers all along my stomach and SI, and I really don't think it's crohn's. I think it's food allergies/intolerances and endometriosis. They take along time to heal, and who knows if they are even healing.

I figured I'd chime in here... I'm going to be taking high doses of vitamins to help with my hormone imbalance and cortisol deficiency. I had a false start a few weeks ago but had to go off them for some blood tests. As soon as those are all done, I'll be back on them. Vit B and C were some of them.

wow, just read this I had my vitamin levels checked and was found to have low Vit B levels. Then saw my GYN today and was told that the only way B12 gets absorbed is to take it sublingually or by injection. Also, guess what....... Ive been on prilosec for like 5 years. HELLO! My Dr never even mentioned or looked at this as a possibility. My GYN suggested a website today www.vitacost.compharmaceutical grade vitamins at a huge discount, check it out

I just discovered vitacost a few weeks ago! Got about $200+ worth of supplements for a mere $80 something.
Isn't it interesting the things docs fail to tell people about side effects?... Shame.
