Well the whole point of a vaccine is to activate your immune system to produce "memory" antibodies so that if you come in contact with a virus or bacteria your body can respond to it faster so that you don't get sick. I'm really starting to question whether these vaccines are safe for those of us who have overactive immune systems and autoimmune disorders. Our immune system is supposed to be highly regulated so that it only responds to something that is foreign like a virus. The reason we get autoimmune disease is because something goes wrong in this finely tuned response of the immune system and our bodies can no longer tell what is foreign and what actually belongs to our body. Vaccines are good in the sense that it has eradicated devastating diseases like polio and small pox. They are supposed to be safe too which I think they are for normal people, but for us? I'm kind of second guessing it now. It's worth taking a second thought about it. I actually plan on asking my virology teacher what she thinks about autoimmune disorders because she's an immunologist/virologist so she knows all about this stuff. I'm excited to see what she has to say.

I'd love to hear too, Jenaya. I find the concept of autoimmune diseases pretty fascinating.

Me too! I ended up not being able to see her because my other classes totally smacked me in the ass this week. Sucks. I'll see her though because I really want to know what she thinks.

it doesn't sound like your classes smacked you in the ass so much as your group let you down. I'm sorry about that, Jenaya; that really, really sucks.

If you can find an acupuncturist/NAET specialist in your area - you should check it out. I have had bizarre allergies too. For example, chicken causes me intense muscle spasms and I feel flu-like after eating it. The regular allergist did no good in helping me with this.

So I didn't get to talk to my professor who is the immunologist/virologist but I did talk to my professor that's a virologist that works on HIV and other retroviruses. I actually brought up a different idea I had about autoimmune disorders so I didn't quite talk to him about the vaccines yet because I figured that would be a better conversation for the immunologist. I told him that I had interests in autoimmune disorders like lupus asked him if he felt that it could be related to viral infections starting the autoimmune processes. He totally agreed that viral infections can be the start of an autoimmune process. Then we got into some very detailed/boring thoughts about the human genome that I won't bore you guys with but the fact that he totally agrees with me that viral infections can be the start of an autoimmune process really makes me wonder if vaccines can do the same thing since vaccines also jump start your immune system. The big difference between a vaccine and a viral infection though is that a vaccine is missing the DNA from a virus. When I was talking with my professor we were discussing how viruses can actually insert their DNA into our DNA and that may be why things get out of control for autoimmune disorders. It's a well known established fact that viruses cause cancer by messing with our DNA, so why can't a virus cause an autoimmune disorder too? Since vaccines are usually missing the DNA from a virus, there's nothing to really insert into our DNA to mess it up. But I still wonder if we are already genetically predisposed to have these problems then why would we want to kick start our immune systems into overdrive with a vaccine? Anyways, I still have the immunology professor to talk to. Interesting stuff! The sad thing is he said it's really hard to get funding for things like lupus because other things "steal all the glory" in his words. He said lupus is a severely under-researched topic and it would be great to shift gears away from things like HIV and try to get more research started on autoimmune disorders. It's pretty obvious that I totally agree, as I'm sure you all do too.

I'm allergic to glycerine soap such as Pears. Caused a terrible rash all over my body...thought I was doing the right thing by using it, but learned I'm highly allergic. I have trouble with man-made materials (think shoes, sandals, sunglasses, jewelry) & wind up with a dreadful rash wherever those items touch my bod. A mixture of 1 part Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar & 1 part filtered water applied to the area 2-3x daily, followed by organic coconut oil dramatically helps to speed the healing process. (A shoe salesman once suggested I was allergic to the dye, not to the material. I suspect it's a combo.)

WAIT...I just had a thought...could you be allergic to your mattress? Many people have terrible problems with the crap used to make/sprayed on mattresses! Linens (maybe the dye in the linens)? Carpet? If you've had a lot of work done to your house, could be something in the paint or other materials is toxic for you...

So you ladies with deodorant allergies... have you by chance found a good natural deodorant that actually works? I have tried Crystal Stick, Burt's Bees and Jason brands. I'm not allergic, just trying to find something non-toxic (aluminum is bad, mmkay?). Jason works the best so far, but only when I'm not actually doing anything. Once I start sweating, it stops working. If I can smell myself, I'm SURE everyone around me can smell me. I'm so self-conscious about being smelly. I may just have to go back to Old Spice (yeh, it's a men's deodorant, but I love the smell).

WOW girls I think all of us have a story of allergic reactions. Mine are severe & dangerous for surgery that is why I choose to hold of on surgery as long as I can but I get the other stuff too and Rodygirl I am allergic to bendryll too I know I get the OMG look too. I take Cojentin a very old drug that is hard to come by when I have a reaction but I have a script just in case something happens. Ask your doc about that drug please I hate to see anyone go thru life not being able to counter act a reaction.
Perfume, shampoo, my wedding ring gosh I cant even remember everything I react too but I really believe it is connected to endo & our special immune systems. The specialist in NYC told me all his endo girls have reactions to something. First doc that made me feel ok about my body. Good Luck everyone. I have learned to deal with it but I feel awful for everyone who has this issue. You never know what is next or how you will react:(

I keep reading stuff about allergic reactions and mercury fillings, and also allergic reactions and adrenal issues. I've read lots of testimonials that when getting adrenal support, allergies disappear, and when having fillings removed, likewise. I have no idea if any of that applies to any of you, but figured I'd throw in my 2 cents. As for deodorant, my nutritionist gave me a recipe for coconut oil deodorant. I've seen several recipes on pinterest as well. I know www.tropicaltraditions.com carries it as well. I haven't been brave enough to try it just yet, but it's on my list.
