Wow. That is the first time I ever heard it mentioned on TV.

Should've mentioned this - I saw something on Facebook about it, I recorded it. Not watched it yet. We have a few posts around about different TV shows, probs all in the General Endo board.

Hmm just watched the Casualty episode. Not that impressed, other than the fact that it got an airing. Showing it as being in the lung and coughing up blood wasn't the best way - that's pretty rare. And mentioning hyster as a possible cure not impressive. Wish they'd been a bit more accurate.

Yeah the girl on Mystery Diagnosis got a hysterectomy to "cure" hers too. Luckily it worked but it sends the wrong message. Oh well. I guess I'm at least glad that people are finally starting to take this disease seriously.

They said she was 'very ill' and gave the usual history, but I think it could have been done better.

The Kardashians mentioned endo when Chole had her infertility looked at. Doc did not do a lap tho and it bothered me that it was ruled out. It did get air time but again not done correctly on tv could confuse a lot of girls about how to get a diagnosis and treatment.

I would like to do something to help make Endo more informative. They have commercials about everything why not Endo.

Because there aren't any effective drugs targeted to treat it... Yet.

I get that, but what about making people more knowledgeable. Or maybe looking into something to help treat it. I know it won't happen but it's frustrating.

If there's nothing to market, sadly, no one is willing to advocate. It's sad and frustrating, but money talks! That being said, I stumbled across an article recently that looks at the amount of money that could be earned if a good endo treatment were developed. Having a mostly untapped (drug-wise) industry dangling in front of drug companies certainly motivates them to find better treatments and, in turn, advertising.

Karen,
It's sad but true. When it comes down to it, it's all about money.

I was just searching the web. I did not know that March was national Endometriosis Month and that they make bracelets for endometriosis. I am going to order one.

So, 'Embarrassing Bodies' has just shown a woman with endo. Only issue is that they said bits of the uterine lining found outside the uterus.
