so my uro sent me to the hospital. got set up for a fast ultrasound and they took some samples for a citology. I guess the concern right now is he's not sure if my kidneys are functioning properly. Soooo yea we'll see how this test goes, then the camera test is next. Im hoping I wont have to go for another lap to see if theres missed endo because its waaaayyyy too soon for another surgery.

Uh oh! Have you had any other tests to measure kidney function? I hope they're barking up the wrong tree and are just ruling things out for you.

I think they take blood work to check kidney function don't they? I'm concerned that the gyno messed somehting up inside when she did your lap - she sounded like a total dud. If you are super sensitive down there, they can do the camera thing in the hospital but I think you stay longer cause of the drugs to knock you out vs. having it done awake in the office. They can give you something to make you relax as well, don't be afraid to tell them you are sensitive and need additional support to relax you.

Oh no That's so scary. They have to do both urine and blood tests to fully test kidney function. I hope you're ok! Keep us posted!

thanks everyone, yea they took blood tests aswell. my lower stomach is just super sensitive and swollen but im not too bad down there other than a rash. I'm super terrified for the cystoscopy as I'm so sensitive and after my crazy old doc and that stupid mirena I've pretty much lost confidence in the "this wont hurt" phrase. Hopefully they figure something out soon!

If the cystoscopy comes up empty with no results please ask for a bladder hydrodistention. Some bladder conditions can not be seen any other way! I spent two years assuming my bladder was normal and it wasn't. I had a horrible case of Interstitial Cystitis that wasn't seen until the hydrodistention. It would be better to have ask for a cystoscopy/hydrodistention under general anesthetic. You can ask for that if your worried about the pain and I recommended it for those of us who have had bad experiences with catheters and bladder pain. I had a cystoscopy with my first urologist and I just about crawled off the table it hurt so bad and the scope is tiny, about the size of a small french 8 catheter. If you have Interstitial cystitis it can actually be in the urethra itself and having a catheter inserted through that can be pretty brutal.

I had read previous posts about the hydrodistention so I made sure to mention it to the urologist my first appointment and he said hed do it for me. He told me I'd be so high I wouldnt even feel it lol he seems really nice and I told him I'm terrified about having pain.

So I had my ultrasound and apparently everything looked fine. I also went for a bladder scan before and after voiding yesterday but that was fine aswell. I'm getting pretty frustrated with this as the uro seems to not be taking me very seriously. It's like he thinks its all in my head or something I've missed three days of work this week, and I'm currently trying to work up the will power to try today, but the pains insane. I've been in and out of the hospital, but they always just give me pain medication and send me away. Getting to my witts end with this. I don't know how I'm supposed to keep my job if this pain doesn't stop!

I'm sorry that is happening. I think what's unique to the group here is that we all understand the feeling of WANTING something wrong to show up. It's not that we want to be sick but when you feel horrible and doctors don't take you seriously because your "numbers" appear normal. They haven't reached a dead end yet so I really hope they keep pushing to figure it out. There is still more they can do. Did they talk to you about what's next?

Thanks I think they're going to look inside my bladder with that hydrodistention next. I'm just waiting to hear back from him about the appointment.

So they didn't try the hydro distention yet? I hope you get an appointment soon, bladder pain is pretty awful. It sounds like your doc is doing the standard tests in the standard order, which is annoying because you don't sound like you are having "standard" complaints. I wish we could light a fire under him!

lol I know, everything moves so slowly! I went to one of the bigger hospitals in the city today because my pain was unbearable, I was just balling tears. After hearing my history and some poking around the docs figured what I've figured all along, its probably IC. So even though they couldnt set up a scope for me, they could at least get me on the right track for managing my pain. This was the first doc I've ever had that understood that most pain meds dont work for me anymore because I've been dealing with constant pain for like 10 years now. So they gave me some valium and morphine to get me settled down, then after it started wearing off they gave me oxycodone. Since it seemed to work ok in the hospital they decided to give me a months worth to try out, and if I need adjustments or to move up to something stronger my uro should be able to help me. Sooo I'm hoping the uro will take me more seriously now that he sees how the hospital treated me. My moms also calling to yell at him for me tomorrow as he never returned my calls today, even though I was crying. Stupid uro....he hasnt even done a pelvic exam on me....like totally useless.... Ugh ok I'll stop ranting thanks for the support everyone

I had an awful experience with a uro that moved at a snails pace and was a real d*ck. I hope things start moving faster for you now!

Well I have an appointment monday now at least lol My mom called and told the receptionist what happened, so she made me an appointment at the end of the day monday and said the doc would just have to stay late lol
I still feel pretty wonky today, I'm hoping its just leftover yucky from the hospital meds, maybe the valium? but I have the weekend to try out this oxycodone stuff and I'm praying I'll be able to function on it and have some pain relief.

if it is IC there are a couple of meds that help a great deal. Hydroxyzine (Vistaril) which is a antihistamine (blocks the histamine which is partially responsible for the damaging in the bladder) and flexeril (cyclobenzoprine) which helps with the twichy muscles from being in pain all the time and Tramadol (or some other pain reliever). Not everyone can use these drugs during the day because they can have pretty good sedative effects but if you can use them they keep the bladder behaving throughout the day, cutting down on pain, and bladder spasms.
