I am so excited for you! Good for you Jenaya and the little a** can critique all he wants because you cancel him out. One good DO cancels out all the a** holes!

I got a new GP and she's a D.O.!!! I'm so excited! I am going to see her today because I totally jacked up my neck and need some fixin! It's funny because I got into a little spiel yesterday with a fellow student about D.O.s vs. M.D.'s and I really don't understand why people would rather condemn something they don't understand rather than trying to understand. This is such a fantastic approach to medicine and I feel like it's so much better for patients to have multiple options to treat them. All these kids care about is the title. It just bothers me. Anyways, starting May 5th I'll be finally applying to D.O. schools and I'm so excited to learn this stuff!

She was really super sweet and nice! In talking about my medical history she was just like, OMG how sad you poor thing! I don't really know if a doctor has EVER shown sympathy before like that. She told me that I'm exactly at the age she was when she was going through her pre-med. She was also an older non-traditional student. She was nice and I liked her a lot. I mainly went back to her for a physical therapy order but in reading my history she said she wanted to spend more time reading my entire medical record thoroughly ( who does that?!!? ) and she wants to call my neurologist and talk to him about my case. Overall I'm very happy that she's being so detailed and careful. It's nice to have a doctor that cares ;D

That's wonderful Jenaya. She sounds awesome! I'm so happy you are applying to be a D.O. We definitely need more people like you in the medical field.

This particular school is in Philadelphia but I'm applying all over the place. There are some really good schools I would love to go to. Of course, I'm biased to California because I want to go back home but I'm so torn because there are other schools that I like and that pelvic pain research is really pulling on my heart strings.

I don't know intensive it is to apply to medical school, so forgive my ignorance, but can you apply to them all and weigh your options later?

Well what most pre-med students do is select 10 of their favorite schools and then apply to all of them. You wait to hear if you have scored an interview or not. Then you interview and wait for acceptance. Once you know what schools accept you then you make a decision. The entire application process is probably the most grueling and tedious thing I have ever done. I can't get over how much you have to work to prove yourself and then basically lay your life in front of them to just pick apart and tell you if they think you are worth their time. It really sucks and it totally destroys your confidence and ego when a school denies your acceptance. I hope I don't have to face that horrible feeling but I know not every school will want me. SIGH! In addition to this, it's also absurdly expensive to apply to all these schools. It's a lot of work, extremely stressful, but the goal is that one day it will all be worth it.

Yes, it WILL all be worth it some day! And you know you'll have a whole swarm of endo girls that will be more than willing to use your services!
