Hi all, I have not been here for a very long time.
I'll give a breif discription of my problems. Endo diagnosed at 17 years old, 2 laparoscopies, 1 laser, provera, danazol, every pill on the market, mirena coil fitted... And unfortuanately I have reations to all of them. I am now 36 years old, I have two children< I dont think I want anymore but also dont want it taken away from me so I am not ready for a hysterectamy.
For the past 12 years I have not bothered going to see the gynae I have just dealt with the endometriosis myself, I cant take the pill so we have just been luky in not falling pregnant (already have my children).
Over the past 3 years I have been very low had no energy, I found out my ferritin was very low at 2.5, so I have been taking mefenamic acid and transamic acid to try and reduce my blood flow but the higest my ferritin ever went to was 9.8.. (should be 30-300)..
Yesterday had another laparoscopy and laser treatment, they said it was everywhere and all my organs were stuck together and my ovaries were stuck too.. (last lap was 17 years ago and was found in ligaments and pouch of douglas)
They want me to start on zoladex but im soo scared, the last medication I let them talk me into I was so ill for a long time, Im just so worried as I cant go through that again but I also know I do have to do something, I have to try something but just dont know what to do..
Can I please have your help ladies, much appreciated..

Hello!! I'm sorry you got bad news about your endo I wish there were better options for us. Unfortunately, with drug treatments our only option is to try them and see what works and then deal with the crappy side effects when they happen to us. There's just no way around it. They can't guarantee that your body will react or not. I'm sure zoladex works for most women, but of course there are some women who get sick from it too. There's just no way to tell until you try it. Maybe to make yourself feel more comfortable trying a new medication, I'm sure you talked to your doctor already about your fears/concerns but ask them to develop a plan for you. Tell them you want to know what they plan to do if this makes you sick and what they plan to do if you have to try something else. That way you don't feel "stuck" with a crappy medication. If you know that you have a plan in case things go wrong then it gives you a little sense of control over what's happening. What's unique about this board is that it's designed for women like us who can't tolerate the options given to us by doctors. I'm just like you. Everything makes me sick, everything causes pain, everything makes me crazy. I can't tolerate ANY of the drug treatments that have been offered to me and I have seriously tried everything. That's where the role of this board comes in. What do you do when you run out of the options given to you by your doctors? Well naturally, you start to find alternatives. There are other things you can do to treat this disease that doctors don't know about and/or don't tell you about. Many of us, including myself, have changed our diets to reduce the inflammation in our bodies. A lot of girls go to physical therapists to have them to pelvic physical therapy to deal with pain. Acupuncture works really well for pain. I'll admit that I was even skeptical of a diet fixing my problems. I didn't believe it until I saw it for myself and honestly, trying a diet has ZERO side effects. There is no fear going into a diet but there's plenty fear in taking a pill. It's not for everyone to be on a diet. There are women who just can't stick to a diet. But the way I see it, you have nothing to lose trying to reduce these symptoms naturally. The body has an amazing ability to heal itself if you give it the proper environment. I'll jump off my "natural treatment" soapbox now. I just know how you feel. I've been pumped full of drugs that made me sick too. If you decide to try the medication route then I think having a backup plan with your doctor will help you feel a little safer with your decision. But if you decide to give the natural approach a try then we are all here to help guide you through

Sometimes drug treatments work quite well, but there can be very unpleasant side effects, and the endo can come back. You have to weigh up all your options, and see what else you can maybe try. As jenaya says, diet changes have nothing but positive side effects all round, worth a shot before trying the harsh drugs.
