I just had a lap on Sept 19, 2011 which was my fifth one. Before I went in I knew there was something wrong because my breats were ALWAYS swollen and sore which turned out to be a very large cyst that took my left ovary. After my lap the swelling and soreness was gone but now after my first period it's back. My breasts are sore and very swollen. I'm feeling pretty worried that I might have another cyst and this time on my only ovary left. Never mind how I have been feeling the last few days, I'm exsaused with bad cramps, back pain and gas pain.

Sorry to hear they're sore again; I know how awful that is. Have you had your breasts themselves scanned? It could be fibrocystic breast disease if they're always getting swolen/sore.

I'm sorry, would you mind clarifying? Are you saying that you have breast soreness due to an ovarian cyst? I guess I'm confused at how your lap surgery would treat breast soreness.
(sorry, I'm really sleep deprived. Excuse my craziness. LOL)

Im not sure if I have a cyst but in the past when I have I get sore breasts and it's constant so now after my lap all the swelling was gone till I got my first period and the swelling is back so I'm really afraid that it's another cyst. They are noticeably bigger and I just finished my period so I should not be experiencing any swolleness based on where I am in my cycle. I was hoping that it might be the surgery and my hormones being out of whack but with my period over it doesn't seem likely. And the last times that I had cysts this is how it all happened.

Hmm, a lot of women experience breast soreness around their periods. Some experience it at other times throughout their cycles as well. Have you talked to your doctor about it? I agree with Hannah - may want to investigate fibrocystic breasts. (An interesting side note - if that IS what you're dealing with, there's some very compelling research out there about lack of iodine in the body and FBD, and cases where the breast tissue returned to normal after supplementation!)

I'm actually really interested in this, Erna, even though I'm really sorry you're experiencing this problem and are worried about its being a cyst, so soon after your lap.
I also have lots of cysts and am quite good at producing endometrioma, and I have always thought that the REALLY sore breasts were linked to the cysts forming. Not when they are normal hormonal sore, but when they are like "I don't even want to take a shower because I can't stand the water hitting my breasts" type of sore--like in early pregnancy. I'm also quite small in teh boob area, unfortunately, so I always feel silly wandering around complaining that my boobs are trying to kill me.

I have had sore breasts since my period began at age 12 starting the day before or the day OF ovulation all the way until my period begins and then the soreness and swelling go down until next time I ovulate. Very annoying!!!
I don't think it's normal, as many women don't have this and many women who do, and tried things, do get some relief or even solve their problem. I have tried many things. The only thing that helped the best but still only temporarily was evening primrose oil. But it only helped for a short time and it came back again despite still taking evening primrose oil. It can also be a hormonal thing.

I used to have quite bad sore breats before my period. It is was quite related with my cycle since once my period came the pain was less and until gone. Since I started taking supplements and herbs, diets changes, etc... I noticed that this was one of the first things to get improved. Also very common for me to have endometriomas, once I had one on my right side that was 7cm, the one on my left was 5cm, then it got smaller to be 3cm.

I have a rather good diet, did a bunch of diet changes a long time ago, take tons of vitamins and some herbs, but nothing has helped me. So I think for me it's hormonal. :-\

The breast soreness that correlates with your cycle could be fibrocystic breast disease. I had a lot of pain from this for a long time right before my period. I wouldn't even be able to lift my arms it got so painful. My doctor told me that caffeine was to blame for my fibrocystic breast but getting me to get rid of caffeine is, um.... NO. HAHA.
I did notice that once I gave up gluten I don't really have it as bad as I used to. I still get sore but not nearly as much as I used to. I'm not sure if gluten was to blame but I swear when I got rid of gluten, ALL of my problems went away. I guess I'm just extra sensitive to it.
So you are saying that your breast soreness seems to correlate to when you have a cyst on your ovary?

I do have fibrocystic breasts. I have a lump in my breast that is actually fibrocystic changes.... I've had the same lump for over 7 years. I went through a ton of ultrasounds to find out what it was; they couldn't figure it out on an ultrasound only, so I decided to get it biopsied and the results was fibrocystic changes... so that is probably what it is for me and why my breasts get so sore right after ovulation and until my period begins. I read that fibrocystic breasts can be caused by estrogen dominance.

For me this has only happened when I have had a cyst or been pregnant. I have not had sore breast in the past at all. Before or after my period. The first time that I had really sore breast I missed my period and thought that I was pregnant specially after trying for so long and it turned out to be a cyst on my ovary and since then I only have had soreness when I have a cyst or when I was pregnant with my daughter. It doesn't seem likely that now after all this time it would be fibrocystic breast disease. After my lap my breasts were back to normal and the swelling started just before my period and then worse after my period stopped. I have a post op appointment with my doctor in November so I will be sure to ask for an ultrasound at that time and let him know what's going on with me and if it is a cyst then I'm sure we'll have to schedule another lap which is just depressing.

For the last couple of weeks, my right breast has been sore, but only in one spot. It seems to be directly under my nipple (laying down under, not standing up under), but if I hit the right spot it really hurts. I know I should go to the doctor about it, but my naturopath probably won't be able to do anything about it, my GP will just refer me to my gyno, and my gyno I am quickly losing faith in. Any suggestions for who to go to or what to do?

I would recommend your Gyn but if you feel like you can't trust him/her then that's a sticky situation. I would go to a Gyn if I had a breast issue. Can you see a new one or do you think seeing your Gyn for this problem will be OK?
