So I hear these words coming out of my lips a lot. I know I'm not a doctor but every time I hear "painful periods" or "I bleed really bad", I hear myself saying "you probably have endometriosis". I then tell them my story and say over and over ''its NOT normal", and then I tell them to go to a gynecologist, If they ignore you find another one. Am I the only one that does this? I do try to educate people about endometriosis but every time someone starts talking about their own monthly issues I hear these words flying out of my mouth. I'm sure a lot of them do have it though but am I being helpful or do I just see Endo everywhere because I have it?

I don't know that I would go straight for endo when discussing this with other people. Sure, endo causes those problems, but it's not the only thing that does. My sister told me once that sex had started to hurt for her (she knows my symptoms), and of course I feared the worst, but it ended up that her boyfriend had scratched her inside. I told her to tell him cut his nails!
I think if you go into it too much people will just think you're a nut, but it's hard to explain to them how serious the problem could be without scaring them. Maybe just find a way to tell them it is not at all normal and they really should speak to a doctor about it. I had no idea that dark, clotty periods weren't normal until I read something Karen wrote about it. More info is good, too much info might put them off.
